These are some of the kindest, most helpful people I've had the pleasure of doing business with. I'm am a novice when it comes to the hobby. I spoke with and purchased another still from a competitor two months ago. He wasn't super friendly, but that's not a requirement to have a good product. I purchased a 10 gallon still with a 5500 watt controller that will also operate on 110 at 2750 watts. There is no user defined voltage/wattage control, it is done automatically with the pid controller. The time to produce using 2750 was painful, 2-3 hours. So I had 220 power added to my garage and ran at 5500 watts. Boy was that a mistake. The time to produce was silly fast, 15 minutes. But it just puked and puked. I tried slowly ramping up speed, it didn't mater. Then I heard some pinging, the still was expanding. I quickly disconnected power and walked away. I called the company and spoke to the owner. He tried to make me feel stupid. I don't feel stupid as I know I am green at this and I know I don't know everything, that's why I'm asking for direction. I did some research, and called other companies. They all said that I was nuts for having a 5500 watt heating element for 10 gallons. I should have a 20-60 gallon still with a variable voltage controlled heating unit. This "builder" put me in massive danger. That was my last straw with this guy.
Now onto vengeance still and the owner Chris. I found vengeance during a search for a voltage control unit so I could have actual control over voltage/watts. I spoke with Chris for 2 hours. He gave me so much great information. I kept waiting for him to say he had to go, but he didn't. I felt like I was talking to a buddy. He actually tried talking me out of buying his product. I got off the phone and thought for about 5 minutes. I have to give this guy my business, he deserves it. I called back and ordered a 20 gallon setup with a bunch of custom options. I'm totally confident in the product I'm going to get, and I know I'll have vengeance to lean on if I need help.
This is supposed to be a fun hobby for me. The taste that was left in my mouth, as well as the danger I was put in by this other company was not a good one. I have a business myself. The industry I'm in often requires me to explain complex things to people, in a delicate way so they can understand and not offend their lack of knowledge. I'm very good at that. Chris at vengeance is cut from the same cloth. I can not recommend them enough. I guarantee you fantastic service and support. It was an absolute pleasure placing my order, and speaking...
Read moreI am very satisfied with my still, although there were some hiccups on the way. Chris and Jennifer were very accommodating when I made the purchase because it had to be shipped urgently for logistic reasons. When the unit arrived it was a bit dented due to being shipped overseas in a container. There were problems with the first runs due to 1) slag in the inside of the pot shorting the heating element as well as 2) incorrect wiring of the electrical plug. Although Vengeance Stills was only responsible for the slag-related problem, Chris replaced the heating element in no time at all. They have been very helpful and available on multiple video calls, emails and text messages and now that the still is running I am very pleased. The still is very efficient and easy to use and clean. We make cheese from sheep milk and I ferment the whey (after some manipulations to change the lactose into glucose and galactose) into vodka and gin. My previous still was challenging to clean after a run due to the precipitation of whey protein when cooked on a propane burner. The Vengeance Still cooks cleaner and is much easier to clean and also runs faster. My only (constructive) critique would be for them to be more attentive in cleaning the excess slag (inside all the components) before shipping. The product and customer service...
Read moreSo I just got a little 5-gallon distiller's kit and I checked around with five to eat different distiller's builder nobody and I mean nobody had any customer service skills they just wanted to sell you a still these guys took the time out before I even bought a still to explain to me how the operation worked how to set up a run..... to cook mash. To the final product needless to say when I first got my little chunk of change to get my first still it was through mr. Chris at Vengeance stills now I'm in the process of building a custom 30 gallon that's run off of two heating elements and it is absolutely a Cadillac he was also willing to work with me and send me an invoice to allow me to pay a little by little and once it's all paid off they would ship it to me just a customer service alone is well worth the price of admission I talked to mr. Chris at least once a week now just about different things to try.....different recipes.... what has worked good for me and what may work in the future so I will never buy another still from anyone else except Vengeance stills and they do anything from a 2 and 1/2 gallon all the way up to your micro-distillery and even hardcore distilleries so again thank you very much for everything mr. Chris and guys at...
