Matt (manager) and Ryan (associate) are extremely ignorant and both have got to be sexist. I had ordered two firearms online and when my brother found out I was buying from academy, he told me to use his credit card there so I can get it slightly cheaper. So I did that. And yes, it says the pickup person has to be the buyer but I assumed that meant the person whose name was going to be on the firearm, not the card. So when I went to pick that up, they informed me the name on the card had to match the one on my ID. Which okay, my mistake. So I asked if the card was the only issue to which Matt said “yes, any card under your name would be okay or cash” I said “okay” and went home to get cash. I live in Pascagoula and had to get my daughter something to eat before heading back, so it took me about 1 1/2 hours to make it back. So I went back with my cash and when I went to purchase the firearms, Ryan immediately called Matt over to which they informed me they already put me on the no buy list despite telling me other methods of payment would be fine. They told me it was bc it looked like I went home and got the cash to buy the firearms for that person (which it isn’t even illegal to buy a firearm for someone else in MS, so that was definitely not the reason why) and treated me like I was doing something illegal and most definitely didn’t say it quietly either. But the men I watched purchase firearms didn't get asked any of the questions I got asked and didn’t have the manager called over there to embarrass them in front of everybody instead of the associate simply explaining the issue and allowing me to fix it. Completely unnecessary approach to the situation and then to ban me from buying for a month and say it loud enough for everyone around me to hear and think I’m doing something illegal when it was really just their power hungry ignorance and i literally came back with another form of payment was so...
Read moreSo I went in to buy my husband a gun for his birthday. I’ve bought lots of guns from the academy from Gulfport several times with perfect service. This time was quite different at this location. There was an older gentleman behind the counter that assisted my daughter and I. He was very rude to us. Frankly, if I wasn’t on a time crunch I wouldn’t have purchased the gun it was that bad. My fourteen year old daughter even commented on how rude he was. Then we witnessed this same man help a gentleman behind us who literally called the guy a liar over some kind of regulation. My mouth fell open. Completely unprofessional. Well... long story short there was a delay on my background check which is no problem. I went a head and told my husband about the gun I am going to purchase but forgot the model number. We called and talked to the manager over the gun department who was also very rude and unprofessional. We just wanted to know what the model was and they refused. Apparently rudeness is modeled from the top. I will never buy another gun from them. On a plus note, there was a younger guy that worked there with a squinty eye that was very kind. So if you have to buy a gun from them look for him. Sorry I didn’t...
Read moreImagine going to a business and spending 800 and not one employee you encounter speaks to you. From the time I walked in, the peron at the door looked me dead in my eyes and never said anything....poor customer service but ok. Throughout the store I encountered 2 employees on the floor, not one spoke, 1 coming from cleaning the restroom and although I smiled and spoke, nothing from her. I then went to the back to purchase a firearm. I spoke to the gentleman first. Another employee came to the back to assist with the process, im assuming, he never spoke. When it was time to call a manager to escort me to the front, she came to the back, never said hello, how are you, nothing. When she got me out of the store, she finally smiles and says have a great day. This is not how you run a business. Rather i was spending $800 or $8.00 customer service at this location NEEDS to be improved drastically. The only reason why I ended up at this location is because the Gulfport location did not have the firearm I wanted in stock.I will not make this about race but I will say that poor customer service will ruin a business faster than defective products. Im going to include my receipt so the date, time, and...
