I'm from out of town. My husband and I were looking for a place to get pedicures. We were across the street at IHOP, when I called Modena asking if there was walk in space for us within the next 5 minutes. The voice on the other end was friendly and assured us it would be no problem. We walk in, sign in and sit down for just a few minutes while our foot baths were prepared. Looking around, I saw clean spaces with the hair salon in front, pedicure stations in the middle and nails in the back. There were no overwhelming scents and it felt welcoming. We sat down and were instantly in heaven. We opted for the Deluxe Pedicure and didn't regret it. From start to finish the tools used were clean and sanitary. Gentle yet firm hands rubbed our feet into a blissful state. I highly recommend you trying it for yourself! While we were paying I asked to make an appointment the following week for a much needed hair cut. With no issues I was scheduled. Earlier today, I arrived to smiles as I entered the salon. I was hopeful for a great haircut. I had lived out of country for three years and missed the dependency of a fresh new do. Amy sat me down and delved into details such as how I liked my hair, how I styled it, what tools I used etc. Armed with all the right information she got to work. After washing my hair, I looked into he mirror and had no doubt that a great hair cut was on the horizon. Under an hour, Amy took me from drab to fab. I couldn't love my new cut more. She understood the haircut that I usually have and worked her magic to set me up so that when my hair grows out, it will be no issue incorporating that future style. If you're from out of town, live locally or just in the market for a change, I ONE HUNDRED percent recommend Modena Hair &Nail Salon in D'Iberville. Thank you all for the wonderful service. And please let me know if you ever decide to open a branch in...
Read moreI chose this place because of the great reviews. I never get my nails done anymore because of work, but since it’s my wedding week I decided to treat myself. I had a pedicure which was fine, then moved to my nails. When I walked in I DID misspeak. I don’t know what certain things are called and that’s my fault. I asked for a gel manicure thinking that I would get acrylics. When I realized I didn’t like what I was getting (after only one coat of polish on one hand) I apologized and clarified what I want which was long nails. The man told me there was no problem. He passed me off to an older women who started my nails. By the end of the service I was there for THREE HOURS. She had cut me multiple times, took absolutely forever and filed them to the point where they were as short as my real nails!! What is the point in me getting fake nails if they’re literally just as short as my real ones. Not to mention the fact that every finger is a different length and size. They look so awful it completely ruined my wedding nails. Then to top it off at the end of the service they charged me for ALL THREE SERVICES. Saying that I had to pay for the first manicure that wasn’t even finished. I wouldn’t be upset if either he mentioned I would have to pay so much or if the nails even looked good?? Now I’m $130 short right before my wedding and absolutely hate my nails. Worst...
Read moreI should have trusted my gut. Didn’t get a great feeling when I walked in.
I’ve had better hair experiences and outcomes at Great Clips.
Showed my stylist a reference picture and asked for a bob with LONG layers. She cut the bob at a good length so I started to relax. Then she cut the first layer and I started to panic. The chunk of hair she cut fell just below the top of my ear creating a 5 inch difference in length from the bottom of my hair. I’m not a stylist but I know that’s not how you make long layers. Then a second chop. Stopped her immediately after that one and knew she had ruined the haircut I was looking for.
I got up and asked her to stop.
The owner came over and told me it was face framing layers. When I pointed out that it wasn’t (because the layer was behind my ear) she asked the stylist to blow dry it so we could see what was happening.
I was horrified once it was blow dried. Half of my head looked like a toddler took scissors to it.
The owner said she was sorry but had literally no idea how to fix it and asked me what I wanted to do. As I’m not a professional and had no idea - I was forced to leave and find someone else to fix it.
The person who had to fix their disaster described it as “botched”
I would recommend staying out of this salon if you want to like how...
