I had never used an Ulta Salon in my life, but I felt like it might be worth the splurge, especially because I have curly hair and have found it nearly impossible to find anyone who can correctly cut and style it. There is a stylist here at this specific Ulta Salon listed as a ācurly hair specialistā, so I made an appointment to see her. At first, the appointment started well. We were discussing curly hair techniques, what products to use, etc. She then proceeded to cut and style my hair in a way I thought we both had agreed upon. After the cut and style, she turned me around to show me the new look, and I was absolutely mortified to see that my shoulder-length curls had been butchered, and that for some reason, she had tried to blow-dry my curls without a diffuser. I had no idea she was going to chop off all my hair! It was so short - I couldnāt even get what I could feel into a ponytail! She didnāt follow any of the typical curly-girl rules or typical guidelines that should be followed for textured hair. She cut my hair like I had straight hair, which is the wrong approach for textured curls. I was in tears, and couldnāt think straight. When I put my hand through my hair, I just couldnāt believe that most of my hair was gone. The āfinal styleā she gave me truly made me look like I had stuck my finger in an electrical socket and was electrocuted. My hair was frizzy, dry, and absolutely NOT styled in any way ANYONE would ever do their hair. I was embarrassed to be seen. I was so emotional and embarrassed about how badly I looked, that I just paid and left. I didnāt even think to get a picture of myself due to being in such an emotional fog. I ran to my car and cried. I did end up going back into the store to complain, but the three staff members there all told me that I ālooked goodā and that āchange can sometimes be a good thingā. Nothing ended up truly happening, no refund, no apology. Iāll never go back to another Ulta Salon, not here in Mississippi, and not in any other state. Iām now working on growing out my curlsā¦itās going to take such a long time for me to get my curls back to where they need to be. My hair truly is butchered, and is growing out in a way that looks pretty terrible. Iām so afraid to trust anyone with cutting my curls again! Ulta is great for products, but just shouldnāt be in the business of...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreTo cut to the chase my hair was butchered by a "stylist" named Connie on Saturday. I am not exaggerating when I say it was the worst hair cut of my life. Not merely because she cut it too short. Nor because it resembled in no way the pictures I showed her. No, it didn't even look like a real hair cut. It looked like a 5 year old attacked my hair with scissors. Large chunks missing, and no lengths matching up. It was a joke. I am not a dramatic or crying type, but I literally could not stop myself from bawling right there in the salon when I saw my hair. And what kills me even more was that when she just glanced at the pictures when explaining how I wanted my hair cut and I tried to get her to look more closely she just waved them away and said she didn't need to see them. Then she proceeded to take away all my hair. It feels like I was assaulted. I have no idea how this woman obtained a license to cut hair.
I know it sounds like I'm rating one stylist and not the Ulta itself, but frankly I think if this business is going to hire someone who would do such a poor job it reflects their level of service. I used this woman because the woman I usually went to had quit. But because I trusted Ulta as a reputable business I allowed a new woman to touch my hair. And she ruined it. The manager, Melissa was very kind. She worked with me for another hour trying to get my hair to in some way look ok. And I appreciate that. But still, it shouldn't have happened to begin with. Now that I've washed my hair it looks terrible again and I'm going to have wait a couple months for it to grow before I can go anywhere else to try to reshape it. It won't even go in a ponytail without clips and stuff. I just feel...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreI went into Ulta for the first time ever. And I honestly will not be back if what I experienced was the norm. To clarify I am not a beauty person and was only there to buy a specific product that I needed in the same day and found Ulta was the only local carrier.
I walked in looking like a deer in headlights. There was no "welcome to Ulta" or anything. Again I had never been in an Ulta so I don't know if that's normal policy. And I was standing there for a good minute and even though I could visually see employees, I received no offer of assistance. Luckily I saw the wall borders that identified the sections of the store. After wandering a section for 45 minutes, I found what I was looking for and went to the register.
The girl at the register was nice enough but I guess she knew the woman in front of me because they were having a VERY personal conversation that many would agree was not work appropriate. Also when I came up she asked for my number and I said I did not want to provide one. She said that it was required and that it was needed in case if a return. This seems like a lie. I have never heard of a business requiring a phone number of a guest for a possible return and especially after the guest makes it clear to the staff that their info is not info they want to share. She completed the transaction and called the next guest before I had even gotten my things and began ringing her up.
Again I don't know what store policy is and I hope no one has my experience. From what I can read from everyone else this is an awesome store and I hope that continues to be true for everyone else. Not an issue for me, I'm just...
