2023 Update - We brought our kids and we climbed down in that area and spent hours there. Just relaxing, eating lunch, and playing in the water. Just be careful when little kids are going down the hill where the water is located. It can be tricky. WILL RETURN when in the area.
Wow. I have to start off with that. My wife talked me into going because who wants to hike on a weekend getaway? LOL But I was highly impressed by the waterfall when we reach it. You could hear the waterfall during almost the whole trail walk and it make curiosity rise because I didn’t know what to expect. No hiking experience is necessary to reach the end. You hike down to the waterfall and hike up to go back to your car. There is no real steep parts in my opinion except if you go to these random places off the trail to the side which are amazing! When you reach the end your mouth will drop. Just seeing how high the water starts from is breathtaking. Plenty of board walks to get different views and they are currently expanding one to add better views. People can walk down to the water area and just relax in the water. Overall this was an amazing experience my wife and I did and I can’t wait to come back with my kids to let them...
Read moreI visited last Saturday with a group of friends. The parking was free and easy to find around noon. Dukes Creek Falls Trail is great for beginners or people with more of a sedentary lifestyle. I am more of an indoor exercise type of girl, (think Zumba or Cycling) and nature is not my thing, but I participated with my girls and it was not that bad! I felt that the walk was manageable overall. I felt proud once I completed the 2.5 mile trip. We went as a group and it was fairly easy going down, yet a little more difficult going up after seeing the water. The signage made it easy to know where you're going. There were people there of all ages and you could definitely walk at your own pace and take breaks as needed. The sounds of nature were so relaxing and the water was beautiful. We got some great photos. Overall, I enjoyed the experience more than I expected too. I recommend going at least once if...
Read moreNice overlook by the parking lot with Yonah Mountain in the distance. Restrooms are available as well along with parking fee signs.
At the trailhead by a few picnic tables, you will see the now infamous Dukes Creek Falls sign which should read 1.1 MI (as other reviewers have noted)...the dot is simply missing for some reason. The trail itself is about 10ft wide and made of gravel stone with hints of pinestraw and twigs. Very smooth and easy to walk on. A series of boardwalks with a few sets of stairs gets you started down the trail.
Once at the bottom, two falls can be seen from the observation decks: Dukes Creek Falls to the left and Davis Creek Falls to the right. Dense foliage and tree branches block a clear view of the falls which start high up but it's still visible. Unfortunately, the right overlook deck is still closed off for repairs...
