I am really upset and disappointed about the experience I just had while attempting to sign my son up for swimming lessons. Now, I don't know if it's because I called early and caught Ms. Cheryl as she was walking in the door, or if she was not feeling well. (she had the sniffles and was coughing while on the phone with me) None the less, if you are running a business and want people to return, you should provide excellent customer service and respect to everyone. I feel I did not get that. Almost everything I said or any question I asked, she would interrupt me. She made me feel rushed when I was trying to pick the best time for my son and I. I had to choose from 3 pm, 3:45 pm or 4:30 pm. I chose the 4:30 class and I could barely get "the 4:30 class" out of my mouth when she says "well if you didn't know, the 4:30 classes are most of the time going to be full classes as parents are getting off of work to bring their kids in". I proceeded to say "oh, no I didn't know but okay, then maybe" and she cut me off again saying "can I have your son's name?" To myself I thought I will give his name first and then change the time to the 3:45 pm class. I started spelling his name after saying it because most people do not spell my son's name correctly and....... she interrupted me again. (I was getting irritated at this point and cannot even remember what she said). She repeated his name and spelled it back to me and to no surprise misspelled it. I had to respell it for her which I didn't mind and then she then asked for his last name. My children have hyphenated last name's and I could only get out the first part of it and she AGAIN rudely interrupted me and said "no no no that's fine". I could not take anymore and I said "you know what, thank you so much I will need to think about this and call back." I'm sorry but after that interaction I have decided to take my business elsewhere for the swimming lessons. Aside from this, the place is great. We have attended birthday parties here, spent hours at the indoor/outdoor pools and played at the indoor soccer field. Like I said, I am not sure if this was a one-time thing or not because I have never interacted with Ms. Cheryl before but I can tell you this left a bad...
Read moreImpressive facility.
Overview: Ms. Rountree owns a lot of ground in the-middle-of-nowhere-Hiram-Georgia, and she's built numerous facilities around her home: outdoor pool, indoor pool, indoor fields, etc. It's actually pretty cool.
You drive down windy roads past trailer parks and suddenly there it is. Signage is good, but it comes up fast.
Parking is a gravel lot, and there's plenty of it.
Chickens and a sweet dog Abby wander the property. The facilities are great. Sure, they're not necessarily Division 1 University stuff, but they're very impressive, especially for the price. It very much has a common-sense, down-home feel. For example, in the indoor pool, Ms. Rountree has lots of big houseplants lining the windows, and there's a cool rope swing for the kids and more pool toys (noodles, rings, torpedoes, balls) than you can count. Also diving blocks and a diving board. Shallow end is 4 feet, deep end is eight feet.
There's a small playground outside the pool area (some swings, short monkey bars, etc. Even a neat little outdoor pond with a wooden T-rex skeleton.
The indoor pool also has a party room. It looks rather eclectic; it's got picnic tables and workout equipment, but it's all neat and quite welcoming. We loved having our party here. Lots of space, clear rules (e.g., don't bring food into the pool area, no running), and, again, that down-home feel: for instance, Ms. Rountree has a separate bucket for scrap food to feed her chickens and goats.
We really liked it. For being out in the boonies, they are great facilities. Great for parties. Friendly, down-home staff. Don't expect the ritz, but you're not paying for the ritz, either; expect a welcoming, down-home, no-nonsense facility. Loved it. Would recommend and will probably use again.
Oh, Ms. Rountree also does swim lessons, which my son has used, and she's great. Recommended for those, too.
You won't find a place quite like this, I...
Read moreABSOLUTELY UNPROFESSIONAL service!! I have had multiple reasons as to why I say this....let me explain. We paid in full for the lessons (8 sessions) a month and the service we paid for was not rendered. I selected a time (4:45pm) that worked for our working schedule and was told without notification that our time changed to (10:45am) which we have to work as parents. I called to discuss this issue and was told that I can not work around your schedule and I have bills ( as if no one else does) to pay so therefore I have to do what I can and was never offered a accomodation. There is NO organization of class age and ratio. My child has been in a class the last few sessions we did with older children of all ages between 8-12years old (she is only 5) along with large ratios of 10-12 kids per session and told the kids were only make up classes and she wasn't aware it was that many kids, outside of her husband telling me this is the class size when signing up when we INITIALLY picked a class of about 4 kids and told her class are only between 6-8 kids depending on swim level which regardless is a TOTAL safety hazard and no one can NEVER teach a child of any age to swim properly with that large of a ratio. There were days were there was large dogs running around the pool inside the waiting area and pool area-UNPROFESSIONAL when you are paying for a service. I highly recommend that if you are looking for a PROFESSIONAL location with good customer service that you consider somewhere else outside of Roundtree Recreation. I would not recommend this place to anyone. Spend your money on somewhere else that's worth your time and your child to truly...
