I've been an Over the Road driver going on 30 years now and I've driven from South Florida throughout the Midwest and the East Coast. As we all know, a good truckstop is hard to find. Recently, I had to stay over a weekend in Fort Lauderdale to load on the following Monday. Someone told me about this truckstop located right at 595 and the turnpike. As I found myself empty in Pompano, I figured I'd give it a try. I drove down and was pleasantly surprised at what I found.
A fully paved parking lot, with nice wide, well marked spaces, well lit at night, and they had security rolling through every hour. The cost of parking was $15 bucks for 24 hours in the back lot and $20 for the preferred spots up front. I chose to park in the back, through the guard gate and found myself a nice spot, just a short walk away from the store. Also learned that with a fuel purchase over 75 gallons, parking in the back is free for the night.
They had just about everything a driver might need in there, and a restaurant as well. There was a small TV room and they had a couple picnic tables out front where some drivers were having a discussion over hours of service or some such thing as drivers do. About 100 feet away from the store, there's another building where the showers are. right next to the showers was a sports bar with a little tent/gazebo thing out front. Lots of people hanging around out there (somebody's birthday, I think) I also saw that they had a chrome shop next door but it was closed for the night. So I went to get a shower (which I found to be nice and clean) and then on back to my truck. Got a good nights sleep and in the morning , went to the restaurant for breakfast. Had a decent meal, eggs and bacon, etc. Had plenty of time to kill so I went over to the chrome shop to see what kind of goodies they had there. They really packed a lot of stuff in there. Glad I didn't have my credit card on me or I might've maxxed it out!
There is a large repair shop across the way so I wandered over and was talking with the guys at the service counter. Prices for an oil change, tire repairs and other regular maintenance things seemed about on track with the other places I've been to. Good to know if I need any work done.
Talking with another driver, we decided to grab a taxi and we went over to the Hard Rock Casino about 10 minutes away. Spent the rest of the day there and went back to the truckstop that night. It was kinda late and he suggested we grab food at the sports bar. I tell you what, it was a bit pricey but I figure why not. He was right! That was one of the best meals I ever ate. Good people and a good time!
Overall, this place will be a regular stop for me whenever I happen to be over this way, and I recommend that anyone else down here should give it a try!
See you...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreWas here last night and I have to say I wasnāt impressed. The area is very nice, landscaping and design for parking. But Iād have to say my attention is on the managers of this establishment. When you pull up to the gate in the back, there is no way to tell how much your going to paying for parking and the dead give away is the machine thatās at your local parking garage. Get a ticket and pay on your way out. Only difference is you see the rates for the time being there at your local garage. This place does not. Now for the parking area I have never in my life seen a truck stop with so many dropped and broken down trailers. It really does look like a junk yard. Not to mention when you think youāve found a spot thereās a car parked holding the spot or 2. There was a lot of cars holding a lot of spots. For this reason alone I was disappointed in management with this issue. I paid 20$ for the night and I honestly think that its over kill as a truck driver. This is a good market to make money and a nice setup but when you take advantage of whatās in front of you, you seem very greedy as the person in charge knows there is hardly any parking in that city. I have to agree also with another reviewer with one of the 2 restaurants that when I wanted to order a certain plate, she told me they donāt have that. And 3 other items. No where on the menu did it say that nor did she mention it to me when I sat down. Service was ok but man do those ladies love to chat, so much it feels like your part of the conversation sitting across the room from them. When it came to paying I waited over 10 minutes to get the check and then after another 10 I had to get up and take the check to the counter, as if Expecting me to leave a whole 20 on the table. And when I did pay what I received confirmed it. I was supposed to receive 7 dollars and some change but all I received was the bills,I didnāt argue or even say anything. I just left. Over all the restrooms seem to have been remolded recently in the past year. And the store has plenty of items for your needs. There is also plenty of shops next door with in walking distance. Overall if you can avoid this place I would. Not trying to put the place down but this is what happened. Management needs to step up and get out there. Or even the owner. This place has potential. Donāt be consumed by...

I recently had the pleasure of visiting the 595 Truck Stop in Fort Lauderdale, and I just have to rave about the incredible service provided by Jackie, the cashier. She was nothing short of phenomenal!
Jackie was working alone, managing a rush of more than 20 truck drivers trying to pump diesel, each with different account numbers and issues. Despite the chaos, she handled everything with absolute professionalism and grace. Her multitasking skills were nothing short of mind-blowing. She seamlessly approved transactions, answered questions, and resolved problems, all while maintaining a calm and composed demeanor.
On top of managing the truck drivers, Jackie greeted every customer entering the store with a warm and enthusiastic welcome, making each person feel valued and appreciated. Her energy was infectious, and her kindness made the entire experience memorable. Whether it was directing people to the showers, mentioning the tiki bar out back, or helping customers in the store, Jackie treated everyone like family.
Iāve never been so impressed by someoneās ability to juggle so many tasks with such ease and positivity. Jackieās customer service is unmatchedānot even Starbucks can compete with the level of care and dedication she brings to her job.
I sincerely hope this review reaches the right people because Jackie absolutely deserves recognition, a raise, or even a bonus for her extraordinary efforts. She is the definition of an outstanding employee, and I will not only be returning to 595 Truck Stop but also recommending it to everyone I know.
