Our stay at Canaan Valley resorts was great. We stayed in a 3 bedroom cabin for 3 nights. Our make up was mom and dad, daughter + fiance and daughter, + son. (5 adults and 1 child). Our cabin room configuration was 1BR full bed, 2BR each with 2 twins. Because of this we moved mattress to the floor of the full bed for the child.
Our cabin had maybe 4 different thermostats. There was no instruction on how to operate the heating in the cabin and we lost about a night of sleep because of how cold it got. The internet I believe is DSL (phone jack going into modem instead of cable). Did not do a speed test but whenever more than a few devices connected the modem would constantly reset. We had to resort to a hotspot from one of our AT&T phones but internet in general was a complete inconvenience.
VERIZON HAS ZERO SERVICE ANYWHERE IN AND AROUND RESORT AND SURROUNDING TOWNS
We went here to ski at the resort and it was nothing short of amazing. Each trail was complete, very well maintained. Staff was responsive and polite. Skiing we had no issue.
With "timber line resort" on its way out the door with it's awful service (terrible) and reputation, Canaan Valley atleast needs to update it's utilities to become a true 5 star...
Read moreWe traveled over 12 hours by car to get here and it was amazing. The fire pit outside watching the skiers was so relaxing, the slopes were well groomed, the lift lines were SUPER short, and my 3 teens had a blast! Can’t say enough about the food and drinks in the little watering hole closest to the slopes. I can’t remember it’s name right now, but it was definitely hopping with a fun family vibe. Great staff, great skiing! Yes, Timberline has more slopes and is more updated, but Canaan is still a wonderful place for families to ski. We got college discounts and the teens said they liked it better than Timberline bc there was absolutely zero waiting on the lifts. Ski in, go straight up. Over and over and over. 🎉🎿 No crowds and no danger of being run over by a snowboarder. They got in a full day and we all enjoyed ourselves. Worth the drive! Love you Canaan! What a beautiful valley! Hold your head high, you’ve still...
Read moreI have always thought the definition of 'vacation' was going to the beach. If going to the beach is not as much fun as it used to be, you can get back in touch with you inner self in Canaan Valley, West Virginia. My family loves to hike and the Dolly Sods is the place for that, from a short walk to an overnighter, Dolly Sods is hard to beat. The scenery is beautiful and you can let your mind enjoy a time away from...
