Drove an hour to get here from Chattanooga. BEAUTIFUL drive up, but a disappointing place. We asked what was fresh in the bakery (on a Saturday morning, in time for the crowds), and the only thing was the apple dumplings. They didnât look appetizing so we got the apple fritters. No apples in the fritters, it was just dough with a sweet glaze. We got some apple cider to go with them, but that was also something we werenât used to. The apple cider Iâve typically bought before has a mulled, spiced flavor. This was just pasteurized apple juice. It was very good and fresh-tasting apple juice, but just so you know, itâs not spiced apple cider. No picking apples or wandering through the orchards, and you donât spend much time looking through their store either, itâs pretty small. Nothing to do here, so donât bring your kids unless youâre just here to pick out a pumpkin and grab some apples while youâre at it. Doesnât compare to Mercierâs, in case youâre trying to have a similar âapple dayâ experience with a...
Read moreI wanted a bunch of apples to make apple butter so I did some research of nearby orchards and decided to go to Oren Wooden's Apple house. It was good declension!!
Wooden's is a pretty big operation with a good sized retail outlet and a large warehouse for sorting and packaging the apples.
The store had a good variety of apples a good prices along with all sorts of locally made jellies, jams, butters, etc. They also had some fresh vegetables, pumpkins, and gourds.
The restaurant and bakery had a good selection of all sorts of food. I only tried things from the bakery. The apple pie, fritter and fried pies were awesome, wish I had bought more!
Everyone I interacted with at the business was very friendly and helpful. I had called ahead of time and the person I talked to was very professional and told me about the option to buy seconds at a much reduced rate and they really good apples and perfect for apple butter.
I would highly recommend Wooden's, it is worth the...
Read moreThere was a lot of people there and the parking lot was full. I am not sure where they all came from and what they were after because my mom and I were honestly not impressed. They had a restaurant with signs for fresh apple pie. Judging by the crowds I imagine it tasted good. I am not sure of what all they offered in the restaurant and was afraid to see the prices. The store itself had a quaint old veggie stand charm, with peaches, apples and garden goods. The people there were very nice. We just felt the prices were high. Seemed like you had to buy a large amount for the fruit, or none at all. I did notice they had single peaches for two dollars. Upstairs is a gift shop area with various things for sale. An upscale yardsale crossed with craft booths. My mom was with us and she was unable to go to the gift/craft area due to the steep stairs. They had clean...
