DeBary Country Club — Local services in DeBary

This was the second visit to this course and it was a bad experience. I reserved a 7:40 tee time with a party of three. We arrived and checked in with the starter who paired us with a nice man and his two young children. I was apprehensive about the pace of play, but gave it a chance. It took us 10 minutes to finish the first hole. Yes, the children were playing.This was the average time until the ninth hole when they had to leave. My friends and I continued on to the 10th hole where we were contacted by the course ranger. He arrogantly told us to pick up our pace because the group ahead was two holes ahead, and we were slowing down things. This didn't settle well with me, and I politely advised him that they should not have paired us with a man and his two elementary aged children if the concern for the pace of play was a factor. Debary was one of my favorite golf courses until I heard about the horrible treatment of the AGO tour golfers this past Saturday during a practice round. The play on the golf course was horribly slow but the rangers found it necessary to pick on specific members of the golf tour group for slow play. No one in this group is a slow player and are a low handicap players. This ranger berated my buddies group even when he can clearly see they had been waiting all day on the group in front of them. I am not sure if the ranger had a bad day but Debary will never get my business or my social networks business. This just looks bad on an organization when you let one employee ruin their business SMH. It's rare for me to write a negative review for a golf course but they deserve this one. We had an 1 pm tee time on Friday Feb 4th. They had us start on number ten. When we pulled up there where ten golf carts in front of us. We still were able to tee off at 1:10. It took us an hour to play two holes. That's frustrating. When we got the the 17th hole at 3:45 there were three groups waiting to tee off. We finally finished around 4:15. Nine holes in three hours is unacceptable anywhere. We got a range of reasons when we complained. One group was holding everyone up, over booked and just bad course management.
