Red Tail Run Golf Course — Local services in Decatur

This is a very nice course. I would guess those that use carts would rate it 5 or close to five. The greens are pure. The fairway grass is consistently good. The layout is beautiful. The front nine and a few of the back are a links layout. I didn't take many pictures to give you the right kind of feel for these holes. There are a couple hole in the woods that makes for a nice variety.

I played the mixed white and blue tees thinking I like 6500 yards. The blues are 6700 ish. I found that a lot of the holes were annoying because drives of 260 were too long for the dogleg. I would have been better playing from the blues.

There were a lot of ball marks on these greens even though I was the 2nd one on the course this morning. I started at 0550 and was finished at 0910. The walk was OK. The first tee is a walk across the large parking lot and there are a couple not short but not long walks around holes 15 to 17.

Price at $31 to walk on a weekend is a good value...

Fun golf course in good condition. Couple of downsides though rounds are very expensive for what you’re getting carts are on their last leg. For a course that has 3 tiers of driving range you would figure you would be able to hit off nice grass or at least a Mat but that’s not the case just bare dirt all around the driving range while you aren’t able to hit off the nice tier of the range for no specified reason. For a PUBLIC course to charge almost 50 dollars a round and to not have any type of hot food for players on the turn because they are out is just ridiculous and they offer no deals that I’ve seen for twilight rounds. Oh and there is never a ranger around golf course in general is in alright shape but the tee boxes and greens are terrible with divots I understand that’s not the courses fault more the players but if you enforced rules and etiquette I could understand charging 50...

Absolutely the worst experience I have ever had at a golf course. I've been playing golf for over 25 years, and never have I been rushed through nine holes the way they did. 3 times our 2 walking foursomes were approached by workers and told we were playing too slow (very disrespectfully, I might add). If you are so concerned about people playing fast instead of enjoying their golf outing (which by the way is the whole point of golf) then include carts for everyone in your fees. Absolutely miserable experience. Neither I nor the other 7 people who were simply trying to enjoy a round of golf with our brother who gets married later today will ever spend our money at this place again. Thanks for ruining our morning of what should of been celebration...
