Island Heritage Trust — Local services in Deer Isle

This organization is doing amazing work! Their efforts are helping to preserve and protect beautiful places on the coast so that people can access the shore, and have peaceful walking trails in the woods, and making sure that less land is lost to development. Animals and birds are loosing more and more of their natural habitat. Sometimes humans “dont know what they’ve got till it’s gone”. If you are visiting the island from “away” or from “the wrong side of the bridge” as the locals humorously like to say, don’t miss out on visiting the Barred Island Preserve. It is AMAZING!
