I have a lot of love for Richardson's. It's a quaint little spot along Route 5 and 10. While there's no designated parking lot you can park along either side of their large horseshoe driveway. Like most chocolate shops, you're welcomed by a decadent, rich chocolate smell once you step inside. Most of the chocolate here is handmade. On the right side of the entrance you can take a peek into the chocolate making process, which is fun to watch. The staff is really friendly, attentive, and provide great recommendations. They have an excellent variety of truffles and other chocolates available in your choice of milk, dark, and white. There's also a great selection of other specialty candy and chocolates (i.e. nonpareils, gummies, cinnamon candies, etc) but those are a bit pricey considering those items are not store made. You can sample anything, including their truffles, which is awesome. Holidays are celebrated with themed treats as well as particularly unique ones throughout the year. On this particular visit we came because they had pumpkin, maple, and cranberry malted milk balls. Let me tell you, those are DELICIOUS. So much so that I bought a pound of them I have no...
Read moreTotally amazing chocolates! The best anywhere. Ever since I was little, we have come here when my parents went for day trips. We would watch them make the chocolates right their on site. I think they have just gotten better with age. The chocolate is not too sweet as not to overpower the flavors inside the chocolates that just explode in your mouth. I love the wintergreen patties, and the lemon, orange, maple and raspberry chocolates the best. The strawberry is good too. All in dark chocolate of course. And I also like the dark chocolate coconut clusters. They also have Truffles in many flavors. Don't miss stopping here if you go to Yankee Candle.and/or Deerfield Village. Just travel up a little further north on Rt 5 from the village and you will see it up on your right hand side. It is a red building and has a semi-circle driveway. Yes they are a bit pricey but they are well worth it. Their fudge is excellent too. I am one for saving a buck but I am willing once in awhile to splurge for Richardson's Chocolate! It is a good thing I don't live right down the street from them. I think I would be tempted to go their all the time despite...
Read moreThe milk chocolates are great, but the dark chocolates are the best we've ever had.. Better than the fancy European stuff, the chocolate stores you see in the mall, or anything we've ever had in any major city. I would have never thought a small house on the side of the road in Deerfield Massachusetts would have the best chocolate we've ever had. We discovered this place decades ago and have been coming here ever since.
They always have a huge selection of chocolates available in lots of different styles, including sugar-free. The pricing is ridiculously inexpensive for the quality of the chocolates. There's always a great selection of items for the holiday season here too. Definitely worth a side trip off of i91 if you're passing through the area, and worth the ride from anywhere in central/western Mass or northern CT.
It's probably actually a good thing that we don't live closer...
