The Dollar General Store #21338 is great for my community. I'm glad it is right around the corner, a quick stop shop for emergencies. I purchased a twenty-five pound bag of Heartland Farms Cat Food for fifteen dollars early a.m on a Monday. My farm barn cats eat anything but they turned their nose up at this product. The next day Tuesday, twenty-fours later, I called on the telephone and spoke with the store manager, explained the situation and I would like a refund. To my surprise the store manager stated they do not accept any returns on food or cat food due to covid, have a nice day, click. And that was the end of the conversation.
I called Heartland Farms and the lady Michelle was the one who gave me the telephone number to the Dollar General Support and Product Services, she told me there have been a lot of calls about the cat food. I was onto my next telephone call. Jan at Dollar General Support and Product Services took my concerns seriously, she stated there was NO UPDATE ON THE RETURN POLICY due to covid as of 9/14/21. The manager was dishonest to me in stating that there was a change due to covid in their return policy. Jan gave me a reference number and told me I should receive a callback in twenty-four hours.
My fourth phone call was back to the Dollar General Store, I wanted to give the manager the opportunity to make things right and offer me a refund, she said; she could not do that. Then I told her what I learned since I last spoke with her, there was not an Update In The Return Policy due to covid. I told her I had called corporate and they will be contacting her District Manager and I had a reference number. All I want to do is just return the cat food and get a refund and maybe an apology.
Thirty minutes later, not 24hrs, I spoke with the District Manager, she called me. "It was resolved after five telephone calls". I did return the cat food and the money will be put back on my card in 24hrs I was told. "It was not about the fifteen dollars." I only did this to make the customer experience better at The Dollar General Store for everyone.
It bothers me that The Dollar General Store is loosing customers because of experiences like this and Cooperate doesn't know it. The Manager of The Dollar General needs to work on her customer service skills and issue resolutions. I did not receive an apology from any party in...
Read moreEmployee implyed me and sister were shoplifting. Employee came up to me(16) and my sister(16) while we were wandering the store looking at various items including variations of cheap slime. Employee then appeared in the isle we were on and as soon as she got there the mood shifted she continued hovered over us for a moment and asked us if we needed help, we felt very uncomfortable and said no thanks. Then we carried on to another isle trying to get away from her presence with one of the slime containers we had been looking at when she dropped in, half way down the new isle we realized she had continued to follow us, she stopped us in the middle of the isle and told us the cameras were always watching and a few very awkward seconds later she walked away. We were confused because we hadn't done anything/said anything to even imply that we had/were doing anything wrong, after she finally left all the joy of our short trip to the Dollar General was sucked away. We immediately put the cheap play thing on the shelf closest to us and tried to shake off the weird expirence by quickly going to the self checkout to buy our V8. Once we purchased the juice and was about to grab receipt, mind you my sister had the drink in her hand the entire time in no way concealing anything, the same employee reappeared and once again loomed over us and asked us about the slime. She asked us if we purchased the slime and we stated no we put it on a shelf. The employee then asked us to show her where. We got to the isle where the first interaction happened and she proceeded to ask us why we had left it there, we shrugged and she told us again that the cameras were watching and she wants us to continue shopping there but to do what was right. I have been shopping at this Dollar General for years and have never had any poor experiences until tonight. What about two teenage girls just wanting to buy V8 juice and laugh about some bad slime was so suspicious? Be aware you may get accused of shoplifting for...
