MARIA is an incredible masseuse -- one of the very best!

We were in Palm Springs for the weekend and I had just gone through a very anxiety-filled, stressful time. I had pain from a pinched nerve in my neck and a tension headache for about 4 days.

We called Palm Springs Spa Massage for their 90-minute special with scrub and aromatherapy. The people on the phone who took my order were very helpful and we arranged for the therapist to come to the hotel.

The therapist, Maria, arrived a few minutes early to set up her table and then went into the bathroom while I undressed and got onto the table. I then received the BEST MASSAGE I HAVE EVER HAD. Although I initially thought the service was a bit pricey, it was absolutely worth it.

Maria is a very skilled professional and used a variety of techniques, some which I have not experienced before. The amount of pressure was just perfect and I think she has a natural talent that put her way above any other therapist I have ever seen.

When the session was over, the tingling in my shoulder and the tension headache was gone. She also gave me a few words of advice about managing stress and anxiety, which were profoundly accurate and I took to heart.

Maria is a true professional. I would even call her a "healer" rather than a masseuse or a therapist. There was something very special about her skill, technique and overall persona that transcends any other massage. Maybe it is some of the Mexican shaman training she received...

We opted for the couples massage at their location because our hotel did not permit them to provide the service in our room. While the booking process was easy and the aestheticians seemed knowledgeable, the whole experience was very disappointing. Their “new” location consisted of 3 makeshift rooms at the back end of anytime fitness gym. There wasn’t a front desk or anything in the ambience to suggest a “spa experience “. You could hear gym equipment clanking in the background. The aesthetician tried playing some spa music on her cellphone and 15 minutes into the massage, loud commercials began blaring on the phone and she couldn’t figure out how to stop it. The rooms didn’t have proper locks and one of the other staff members barged in twice during the massage asking for hot towels for their client. The aesthetician who did my massage told me at the end that this was her day to interview and she didn’t expect to provide a service but was glad she had some of her supplies on her. The rooms were cold with thin sheets and no proper blankets for extra coverage. At the end of the massage, I asked for a glass of water. They didn’t have any glasses or other supplies they recommended I go drink out of the gym water fountain on my way out. Maybe the experience would be better if they came to you for the massage, but overall I would not recommend this place. They are not really cheap for the experience they provide. Poor experience overall. Masseuse was 70 mins late for appointment. Initially the masseuse and the manager both called to let me know she would be 30 mins late which I confirmed would not be an issue. After 30 mins, she still had not arrived so I called masseuse to get an updated ETA, at which time she said she was still 30 minutes away. At this point, I called the manager back and requested a discount. Manager advised to call back after the services and she’d working something out.

Upon arrival, the masseuse had offered an extra 30 min free of charge, but I didn’t have the time, provided she was already an hour late. After the service, I called the manager back as instructed - she declined my call and had the masseuse call me instead to let me know they do not offer discounts and because the service was already provided, there was nothing they could do. Rather, the extra 30 minutes was their way of “making up for it.” (Even if I’d had the time, the massage itself was more of a light rub and not worth another 30 min). I requested a call back from the manager to follow up on the discount she suggested - she then shared they couldn’t offer a discount after all. The overall experience was poor, would not recommend.
