We were looking for an inexpensive room for a night so we could attend a concert at Spirit Lake. I’ve known about Camp Grafton for decades (I’m retired military) but never visited the Camp nor thought about inquiring with them about lodging until we started looking into getting a hotel room for the night in/near Devils Lake or St Michael, where the prices were high enough I was hoping to find something cheaper and not have to drive a long ways. I found the email address for Camp Grafton lodging and inquired about a room. The staff was very courteous and the room was approximately $100 cheaper than the nearby area, plus it’s only minutes away from both Devils Lake and Spirit Lake. When we arrived at the Camp, the security guard was outstanding and provided us with spot on directions to the lodging office, where again, the on duty person was very professional and a delight to work with. The room was pretty basic, but very clean and functional; a full size bed, bathroom with a shower and a refrigerator with a nice view of the lake. There was no microwave in the room but there was one upstairs in the Lounge room. Only negative was it had snowed 2-3 inches that day and I had to shovel the parking spot, sidewalk and entrance to the lodging building (there was a snow shovel in the entrance of the lodging building).
