Unprofessional Management!!!
I used to like shopping and recommending this antique mall. It's one of the very few I have ever been too that has wide clear aisles to accommodate wheel chairs.
But I can no longer recommend this mall after seeing the brutal way their manager attacked a child on social media.
The manager released a video of a child shoplifting a small dollar item, and berated her for her stupidity and vowed to go after her. It was very mean-spirited.
Shoplifting is NOT COOL. But the item looked like something for a much younger person, perhaps a family member. And with 82% of US households with children not having enough food to eat, it isn't hard to assume this child's family is in a difficult financial situation.
The manager could have posted the video without being vicious and spewing venom.
Normal business practice would have been to simply post the video to request help with identification, reiterate their zero tolerance of theft, and remind the public that the store is entirely covered with cameras, ensuring that all shoplifters will be caught, without going on a verbal tirade.
Hopefully, there can be some restitution and resources to help this child get on a good path, rather than having this incident set a downfall in motion.
Many of us know and love kids who could get off track or are dealing with major financial stresses.
These difficult times call for a bit of compassion and humanity in responding to shoplifting, especially a child.
Clearly, these qualities are missing from the management of the Mega Mall.
I hope the vendors will take this into account and consider new management that, at a minimum, can act more professionally.
That would be welcome news so I could return to shopping this awesome jewel.
Note that the manager has removed the original post with the video and the disparaging comments, somewhat reluctantly.
However, he remains pleased with his social...
Read moreThe owner of this flea market is highly unprofessional, having referred to me as a bully for accurately describing one of his staff-the only individual who fit the description to identify her-and mentioning that he wished to call me many other things. I expressed upset over being ordered to leave due to having my pet with me. My pet was being carried by me, was entirely calm and sedentary, wasn’t bothering or harming anything or anyone. And in fact three staff members came over and engaged quite interested with my partner and I in conversation, clearly enjoying his presence. There was no signage posted anywhere about pets not being allowed, and many Lansing businesses are completely fine with pets coming in. The owner’s vendors also went out of their way to attack me on social media, and when I wouldn’t just roll over and tolerate it, my review was deleted from his page. This is unethical. Businesses that cherry pick reviews can not be trusted and should be avoided. Shop here at your own peril, and be ready for the owner to white knight and his buddies and vendors to spew venom if you dare to leave anything other than a glowing review. Many of the items offered for sale are on par with what you might find at Goodwill, only they are priced as though they were brand new retail. I do not recommend...
Read moreThe manager needs to re-evaluate their policies. Went there on a Sunday afternoon around 3:30/4, it wasn’t very busy. I found something I really wanted with no tag and took it to the front hoping they’d call the dealer for the price, but the person at the front informed me they don’t call dealers on the weekend because they get too busy. Meanwhile I took a seat by the front waiting for my partner and the same guy who wouldn’t call just fixed his chair for five minutes because there were no customers. I found the same guy later in a dealer’s booth playing with a guitar (not helping customers, just goofing off), and he mentioned he asked his manger about calling but the manager told him no. I asked if they tell the dealers they don’t call on weekends and he just ignored that question and kept apologizing and blaming the manager. I did make a comment that he had time to talk to the manager but not just call the dealer.. Not to mention the plethora of employees that were walking around and asking if we needed help but not one could pick up the phone and make a 30 second call. Overall merchandise was also nothing very exciting. High prices and a lot of junky booths. Sure it’s big, but I’ve have more luck at...
