First a quick note: tours at Crittendens are typically on Friday afternoons but occur sporadically! This is a small family distillery, check their Facebook page to find the date for the next tour.
As for the tours themselves, it's a small, cheap, laid-back affair that's a lot of fun and well worth the $10! You get the opportunity to ask questions, see the barrel rick house up close and personal, and sample plenty of bourbon.
Even better than the tour however, is their bourbon! I'd highly recommend buying one of their unique single barrel options. Bottles range from double oaked offerings to wine finished Bourbons to their standard bottled in bond. On my last visit I picked up the 6 year Family Reserve bottle, and let me say, it's as good as most bottles of Stagg Jr that I've tried. They are actually not doing tastings at all currently due to their computer system being fried by lightning a couple weeks ago.... However this is not indicated anywhere on their website and nor are their hours.
