After seeing a the video review by the âHungie Coupleâ, my husband and I decided we wanted to check out the Kingâs Gap General Store, LLC for ourselves and we were absolutely not disappointed!!
To start things off, although originally built in 1894 with the addition added in, I believe the owner stated 1941, the store was still completely wheelchair accessible!
For us that alone is a big deal!!
The ambiance is awesome, think of it as Americana - The Waltonâs meets the 1970âs.
The store aisles were spacious and the store very clean.
The toys and antique tins on the front wall were a definite nod to our childhood. The additional antiques, candies, cheese, etc. were simply a welcome addition.
The food very reasonably priced and absolutely out of this world! Not to mention made fresh to order.
Clearly homemade, we ordered the mushroom and swiss burgers. My husband ordered fries and I got their onion rings.
For our orders, our bill was only $29.47 MUCH less than similar type foods around the local area yet with Kingâs Gap having much better quality and larger quantity!
To our dogâs delight, we couldnât even finish everything so had to share a bit with him.
We chose to eat at one of the many outside picnic tables. It was very relaxing!
The owner came out to bring more catsup and seemed more than happy to talk with us, answering our questions about the general store.
If you are in the area, we strongly suggest a visit!
Although we visited during the week, we will be soon returning to try one of their milkshake creations, made specially with icecream from Mr. Gâs!
Easy to locate, it is at the foot of Kingâs Gap Mansion and Enviromental Center!
For their specials and announcements and/ or to see their weekend specials, updates and meal offers.. follow them on Facebook!

Read moreThis place is awesome. It reminds me of the general stores, 'gennies', up in Vermont and New York state - which are the best places to find the best local goods! I'm definitely going to make this a regular stop when I'm in the area. The owners are super friendly, they also clearly work hard and take pride in their business.
I ordered a cheesesteak (which was very tasty) and Deb's dill pickle pasta salad, which is something you've got to try if she has it. My only regret is not getting enough to take to work tomorrow! đ This is a hidden gem for great eats and great conversation. Thanks for doing...
Read moreI live about 90 minutes away, and on Sunday afternoon I ask people if they want to ride to "the wheel of cheese". Among all of the other deli delights and sandwiches, the Wheel of Cheese sits in a place of honor in the store. The times that I have been there it was a beautiful sharp Wisconsin Cheddar. Don't try to leave the store without asking them to whack off a hunk and wrap it up in paper for you. It is probably the most precious thing I have ever carried in my bike's panniers (saddle bags)....
