Piney River Antique Mall — Local services in Doolittle

Jan 25,2025 My wife and I stopped at Piney River Antiques in Doolittle Mo.Have been there several occasions and we have spent a lot more over time.Today around approx1 :00 pm or1:15pm my wife and I entered this place of business and my wife was carrying her purse , A lady came out behind the desk and stopped my wife and stated There a new rule or policy that all purses or handbags must be left in the car or they will provide locker with lock and keys and after your finished shopping just let them know you need your person and give them the key back.We were both fine that.There is a large sign posted inside the business at front desk as you come into the door.So my wife gave them her person the lady behind the desk secured it in the locker and gave me wife the locker key and the lady made a statement to my wife people get angry with her. We went on our way to shop and browse. While we was shopping and we did fine a few things that we were planning to purchase got to noticing all these women in the Antique Store were carry there purse or hand bags. As we were shopping and carrying on conversation with others found out from other shoppers stated no one stopped any of them coming in.Fact is if a place of business is going to make a rule or policy changes them instruct your work force see that everyone abides by rules.Today felt my wife was singled out and no one else was instructed to comply.So after this incidence chose not to purchase items and take out business else where.While I wish this business the best ,they need to work on there staff to see everyone Complies.Note : I will never shop in this...

I like to go “antiquing” on Saturday mornings. I usually make Piney River Antique Mall one of my stops.

Well, this morning when I arrived I had just made it to the first booth when I was told that my purse didn’t meet their specifications. They have decided they are only allowing fanny packs and small cross-shoulder bags; neither of which do I own or have ever had as a fashion accessory. I have spent hundreds of dollars with them over the years. I bought my buffet there and recently a $40 push plow.

I’ve carried the same Dooney & Burke canvas purse for the last five years. It’s not a huge purse. It’s not really even the size of a Hobo bag, but smaller. I love that purse. I’m not leaving it in the car because I have my wallet, my keys, and my phone in it. I’m not changing styles for them or my personal habits or leaving a purse in my car to be stolen.

I get it that thefts are high, but get up and walk around, act like you actually have a job, and deter as many would-be thieves as you can by not hanging out solely at the counter. You already have locks, cameras and mirrors everywhere, use them.

I don’t like being accused of being a thief, so I won’t ever be back. Good for me. I had my eye on a planter that was around $40 if I remember correctly. I guess I’m saving money.

Never heard of this place, I found it reviewing Antique Malls around Rolla, Missouri. I'm so happy I did find it, as it was the only purchase's I made all day that made my trip worthwhile. The lady at the desk was very warm and welcoming to me & Skippy when we entered. We were one of the first people there when she opened. The prices and inventory were interesting and a lot of different antiques, something for everyone for sure. When I can buy several items, I consider it somewhere to come back to now and again. I found a lucite clothes pin pen holder I've been looking for a long time now, as my last lucite one broke. Then, surprise for my little brother as I found count them 2 old radios one was Sony and one was Americana Fifties or Sixties plastic radios that work along with perfect condition literally. A little null dull and novas will make them look brand new. That's was a great antique mall for sure, and brother loved the treasures. Don't get me wrong, my critique is my opinion as I have visited and reviewed numerous antique stores and malls across the country.
