Chiricahua Peak, is a place where nature enthusiasts and hikers come to explore and experience the wilderness. The peak's summit offers stunning views of the desert landscape, with trails that range from easy to challenging. The charm of the area captivated us, with enchanting communities like Portal and Paradise. The warm and welcoming locals create a friendly atmosphere, where visitors can find a range of accommodations and restaurants. These towns serve as ideal retreats for hikers seeking relaxation and nourishment after a day of exploring the trails. Whether you're an experienced hiker, a nature lover, birder or just looking for a peaceful getaway, Chiricahua Peak and its surroundings have something for everyone. You'll leave with memories that will last a lifetime.

Highpoint of SE Arizona. I think the most popular hiking route is to come south down the Crest Trail from Rustlers Park... though I wanted to avoid a long dirt/rock road, so I hiked up the Saulsbury Trail, along the Crest Trail, and then down Mormon Canyon. Chiricahua Peak itself is covered in trees, so the views from the actual highest point are minimal, BUT the loop I described above takes a hiker past Fly Peak and Monte Vista Peak (both of which have excellent vistas and are definitely worth checking out). Monte Vista Peak has a Forest Service watch tower on it. Free distributed camping along Turkey Creek Rd around the beginning of the Saulsbury Trail.

An amazing trip, I think is the most beautiful trail I ever did inside Arizona, very "woodsie" so different than all around this area. There is a camping spot on the bottom of the mountain, we decided to get an airbnb and it was a horrible experience, this lady advertisement calls for 4 beds and we only had 1, there is nothing around, so if you come from the Phoenix area or farther, make good arrangements. This place is worth it.
