š holiday house is unprofessional as hell and making me go "Karenāš®āšØ My dog has been going here for years to the RESORT on shady retreat road. They were booked up and could only make appointments for spa on state which is not my preferred given the crowds and parking situation. We finally agreed to an appointment there and family member took my dog by herself to an appointment and couldnāt find parking and called the spa very upset she does have parking/driving anxiety. Apologies on my behalf if she was in a tiff, I understand but the receptionist at SPA ON STATE offered to reschedule the following weekend on a morning as it was less likely to be busyā¦My family member called back Holiday Houseās main facility to see if there were any cancellations at the MAIN RESORT and the front desk said no⦠There was NEVER any cancellation on our end for the rescheduled appointment. My family member received a call today from Spa on State cancelling the appointment for my dog, and I was left confused because NEITHER OF US had cancelled. I immediately called Holiday House where I was transferred to a woman named Katie who I presume is the manager for Spa on State or front desk coordinator. Katie stated we had cancelled "numerous times" since November. I said well IF we have ever cancelled at spa on state itās because I myself donāt feel the safe having my dog in that crowded of a town [spa on state] with a groomer he is not as familiar with, and/or for financial reasons as we had been in the process of moving last fallā¦.but also my dog was just groomed at the main facility a few months prior sooo and I have the receipt!? š I donāt know what Katie was insinuating because she acts as if it was a crime to cancel. And in addition to that - Holiday House [the main one on shady retreat rd] cancelled an appointment for us before and LET US KNOW WHY because my dog was not vaxxed yet [in regards to the dog flu] And Iāve always given notice before canceling soooooo?????????!??? Iām just disgusted honestly š¤·š»āāļø and I was really appalled by this whole interaction with Katie from Holiday House in regards to spa on state facilities
Once the woman confirmed they, at SPA ON STATE / HOLIDAY HOUSE cancelled the appointment themselves WITHOUT THE CLIENT DOING so - I began recording the call once she said that because I have never in my life heard this from a business and had to let other people know about spa on state š«£ KATIE said we should cut ties with a relationship with Holiday House because of my family memberās feedback at not preferring SPA ON STATE. Iām really annoyed and frustrated as my dog has been going to SHADY RETREAT facilities for years now and Joanne is a great groomer. But the main resort said theyāre always trying to schedule people at spa on state while theyāre booked and have trouble doing so. And itās no wonder why because the location isnāt ideal considering the parking and crowds and theyāre not professional. Aaaaand my dog still needs to be groomed considering its the summer. But alrighty then yāall. What a trash facility spa on state is? Thanks...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreThe Holiday House Staff & Fran were wonderful!
My first experience with Holiday House was due to a wedding invitation to NC. All my family was going, leaving no one home to care for my 12 our year old Beagle. Adding to the problem Katie is a real Houdini when she wants to be so, I was extremely worried that if she escaped when left with an unsuspecting sitter she could run wild and get hurt or very lost, so I needed a place to take her that was safe, and beagle proof. Along with those problems add non-stop barking if left in a strange place or even just in my car for 5 minutes if she cannot see me. My game plan was to start with Doggy Day Care working my way up to big overnight camp.
I was never so AMAZED at how HAPPY and TIRED my little dog was after a play day? Itās just like little kids that have fun with all their peers and come home socially satisfied and pooped. The first time she came home she slept for a day and a half! And she had happy little dreams with a sleepy little whimper and her feet in running motion; she has not done since we lived in the woods. All of my concerns about her barking disappeared after the first visit. In fact Holiday House is the only place I can leave her where she does not bark non-stop. A few more visits and I began to feel much better about leaving her for a four night, five day stay.
The big overnight camp did not disappoint at all! My own anxiety was the worst part of the process. The staff did everything possible to alleviate my concerns, answer my questions, and explain how it works, and reassure me all the dogs are really okay and happy.
When I picked Katie up after her 4 nights and 5 day stay she was not even anxious or whiny, she was none of things I was worried about, she was not even mad at me! And that cute little bandanna she was wearing from her bath melted my heart. Of course for the next few days she followed me around like my shadow, but she was not distressed at all, not a bit, she was happy and healthy! I think she even matured a bit, just like kids do when they go to overnight camp! She is calmer and just better rounded for it.
Now I know I can leave her overnight with ease and satisfaction at Holiday House and her little psyche will be just fine! I highly recommend Holiday House to anyone I have a conversation on regarding daycare or overnight stays. The extra attention with walks and group play and a nightly tuck in really made the difference to Katie and to me. It is worth every penny, and is what I consider very reasonably priced, I give it 10 stars.
Sincerely,...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreUPDATE: Our newest addition to the family is Bell, a rescue we adopted at around 4 months old, who knew absolutely nothing when we picked her up. At 5 months old and after settling into her new home with us, we enrolled her into the Stay and Learn program with Mark and Skyler in order to establish basic manners and the training foundations of good behaviors. I could not be more pleased with what Mark and Skyler have been able to provide my husband and I, and more importantly Bell, in 15 days. Communication regarding expectations, wishes, concerns (of mine), etc., was established with Mark and Skyler prior to dropping of Bell, and continued throughout her 15 day stay. Their passion for what they do is completely evident from my very first introduction with them, as well as how they treated her as their own. Upon graduation and pick up day, I left with the tools I needed to be able to continue her training at home and feel more confident in doing so. Everything that Mark and Skyler had taught her at Holiday House, has seamlessly translated into my daily training exercises with her, which I am using from their instructions for me. I needed the guidance, Bell needed the foundations, and Mark and Skyler were able to provide that for our family and we are forever grateful.
OLDER POST:
We used Holiday House for our first full groom of our BRT. Couldnāt be more happy with Carley! Sheās experienced and knew exactly how to manage our stubborn 110lb baby! I highly recommend her and have already booked Thorās next appointment with her! Update: Nearly 6 months has gone by and I couldnāt say more wonderful things about Holiday House Pet Resort Daycare and Skye at Spa on State, Thorās current groomer. The staff at both locations are extremely professional, efficient, and friendly. They all have great communication as well with their customers, which I think is so important and rare these days! Thor goes to daycare twice each week, and to Skye for grooming once a month, so my interactions are consistent and often with the staff- and they are consistently fantastic in what they do. Thor comes back from daycare exhausted from playing all day and sleeps very well! His energy has been redirected with exercise and socialization. Iāve also noticed a significant positive improvement in his behavior and interactions with other dogs while on leash walking around my neighborhood- prior to bringing him to daycare he had leash aggression. The daycare managers and Skye go above and beyond for the pups and itās obvious they love...
