Golden Bear Club — Local services in Dr. Phillips

Really disappointed in the Golden Bear Club. We have a social membership and we should have checked the club out more before joining. The elevator in the club has been broken for the entire time we have been members here, the gym has rusted out very old equipment and basically no activities are scheduled for women in the evenings or on the weekends. It's pretty clear there is no money being spent on the club with money just going into the pockets of the owners. The club says they are hoping for money to replace rusted gym equipment with rust holes, but "c" level company executives are rolling in Bentleys. There have been vandalism incidents reported right in front of the club when a member's cart was pushed over but there are no security cameras . We have had issues with billing for the required food and beverage with other member's food and beverage billed to our account even though we were out of the country at the time of the billing. On several occasions drink overserved patrons on the patio resulted in us leaving, but getting patio tables is hard as they are "reserved" for regulars. I wanted individual tennis training- not available on weeknights, only on weekends. Club is really geared toward retirees and people who do not work....but retirees who can go up and down the stairs because the elevator does not work. All in all, the GBC is a waste of money, I can't speak to the golf, but the club...

The Golden Bear Club was a surprising venue to host our wedding. The price, compared to other venues around, is extremely reasonable and accommodating. In both beauty and satisfaction, they were able to suit all of my requests for what a venue should have for a total wedding experience. They boast wonderful and beautiful scenery, as the rest of their staff are particularly polite. Their on-site chef made both the cocktail hour and dinner a magical experience. Savory dishes, as well as quite filling, they made sure to handle it all. Michelle, their wedding coordinator, blew me away on her professionalism and rapid response time to any of our questions. I cannot tell you how much of a gem she was. She took my breath away on the lengths she went to ensure everything was going smoothly before and during the wedding. She even went as far as setting up the tables, placing on boutonnieres, setting up a set schedule of events for the wedding, and handling photography moments. It's a tucked away clubhouse that's available as a venue for events. It's quiet, scenic and accommodating. Thier catering was splendid, They served a main course of salmon with a light and refreshing teriyaki sauce with a vegetable rice pilaf and roasted vegetables. Cooked very well, the salmon was moist and flavourful. They also served a main course filet of beef with red mashed potatoes, brown gravy and garlic roasted green beans.
