I’ve been working with Sophie for about 3 months. And my goodness!
I’m 37 and have always preferred curling up with a book or a record over intentionally exercising. My job keeps me hunched over a computer for the majority of the day. Daily headaches and loss of flexibility convinced me that I needed to do something different. I tried massages every 1-2 weeks - they were lovely, but the benefits didn’t last. One therapist suggested I try yin yoga, and that’s how I connected with Sophie.
From the very beginning, Sophie has been focused on my goals. Though I was looking for a yin yoga instructor, I also wanted to get stronger and more flexible. We’ve done a few yin yoga sessions, but otherwise Sophie has been keenly focused on getting me stronger and more loose. Each session, she comes with a handwritten plan to bring me, a yoga novice, up to speed. Vinyasa doesn’t seem far-fetched at all!
In just this short time, I’m less tense and so much more mindful. The daily headaches are gone. Low back pain from scoliosis? No bother. I sleep more soundly and wake up with more energy. Sophie is a good listener, and her classes are varied and complete. You never get bored, you learn and I have to admit that my body has become toned, aligned and straightened, as has my stamina. Sophie knows how to gently and pedagogically take me out of my comfort zone and move forward in this infinite practice that is yoga. She's a top quality teacher who's always ready to adapt her classes according to my requests, my needs and what she senses in me.
