Another great Derby Day at Mystic Farm. Updated for Derby Day 2024 Was a day threatening rain but we decided to attend with our “tribe” Widows and Widowers of Raleigh/Durham. We very much enjoyed the event. The food truck, though a bit late, was actually quite good. The staff was, as always, very pleasant to speak with. We spent most of our time outside. Inside had chairs setup for watching the race. But it was darn chilly in there. So we all congregated under the tents provided. It was fun watching all those people show up dressed to the 9s for Derby day. Concerns; $12 for a tiny cocktail at a distillery seems quite high. A bit disappointing. The coin given for attending did get you a drink in an actual glass, which you could take with you. But 12 for a small drink, in a plastic cup , really? #2 Can I bring my own screw gun and deck screws to make the picnic tables more usable and safe. I sat on a popped nail and when jumping up to get off it banged my knee hard. Watched a guy sit next to me set his drink down on the table (one of those 12 bucks one in a plastic cup. He didn’t notice the board was almost 2 inches different in height from the next one; over went the drink.

Overall it was a lot of fun with our group. Chatting with other patrons and just people watching. We did bolt when the sky’s opened up. We are hopeful you hold the event again next year. Though we missed the craft fair that is always enjoyable. ————————————————————————

Though it wasn’t called that today. They did have a great arts and crafts show. Many very good vendors around the goose pond. Enjoyed delicious Old Fashion’s and refreshingly tasty lemon drops. Only thing missing were Mint Juleps, sadly. A beautiful day to be at Mystic and we all are looking forward...

I gifted my boyfriend the Single Barrel Experience at Mystic for his birthday, and we had the best time! The Single Barrel Experience is an amazing day packed with the hands on start to finish process of whiskey making, tastings, whiskey university, and a delicious lunch with the distillery staff. The experience also included all our drinks throughout the day, including liquor, cocktails, beer, soda, water, anything we wanted. We didn't know exactly what we were getting ourselves into, but we could not have asked for a better day.

Bryan, one of the distillers, walked us through the hands on process. We were the ones that got to push the buttons and switch the switches. We got to help physically move the grain, mash, and eventual whiskey through the distilling equipment into a barrel. As part of it, we got to decide what inscription we wanted laser etched into our barrel. Bryan was an amazing guide throughout the day. He's incredibly knowledgeable and all around friendly host.

We also had the chance to take part in the Whiskey University program with Blitz, one of the distillery's owners. This program teaches you the really interesting combination of the science and history behind whiskey and the whiskey making process, and obviously includes a few tastings. We learned so much and Blitz was a great teacher!

However, I think the best parts of the day happened between what was officially included in the Single Barrel Experience. We felt so taken care of by the team at Mystic. We left feeling like we were truly a part of the Mystic family. We will definitely be spending as much time as we can at Mystic...

We had been fans of Mystic's bourbon for a while, and recently used their place as a venue for my husband's birthday party. We looked at several different options, but immediately loved the causal, charming vibe at Mystic. We could not have been happier. Jonathon was great to work with on the initial logistics, and was quick to respond with any questions we had. He was also really flexible and offered a few different ideas to consider before sending us a contract we both felt good about.

Lisa and Bryan were wonderful to work with as we neared the date. Lisa asked the right questions about our event to get a sense of what the flow should be and how things should be set up. We had food, a little area for dancing and a fire pit outside. Our guests loved tasting their spirits and enjoyed the other bar offerings as well.

Bryan offered a tour for anyone interested, and was a fun, knowledgeable guide who is clearly passionate about his work.

It was absolutely worth the cost to locate our party at Mystic. The bar, service, music, and lighting were just right - allowing us to just enjoy time with friends. I will...
