Kankakee River — Local services in Eagle Creek Township

Been fishing🎣 the Kankakee since I was a lad. There are some really scenic parts paddling downstream from the city of Kankakee. Some record book smallies by Werner Bridge and lots of holes all throughout the river. Very big walleye. But the farmers are using insecticides☠, fungicides☠, herbicides☠, and God knows what else🤢😱😵, beyond their labeled ratio, in order for the products to be effective. Since Monsanto is the money maker, there is little to no enforcement of regulations against the farmers. The Kankakee River is the farmland drainage. 🤢🤢🤢🤢🤢 So, I don't recommend eating any big, older fish. But who knows, all that crapola might cleanse your system...

A beautiful place to be when you're in Kankakee County and even parts of Northwest Indiana. The Kankakee River is a gorgeous place to be and has given our county many names for businesses, including River Valley Metro. This river is also great for fishing, boating and photography. However, you cannot swim in the Kankakee River because its strong current kills at least one person each year. I would highly recommend going to Island Park in Momence, IL or the Kankakee State Park to get the best viewing of the...

This river is really nice however trying to catch fish is a real bust the dnr hasnt managed this river very well quite honestly and there are tons of people eating all the sport fish depleting quality fishing for everyone... it is a very nice river because it is very straight and not many log jams anywhere...and ducks and waterfowl are everywhere we saw a nice bald eagle as well.....it is neat because not many houses around and it feels like the true...
