I hadn’t been to a drive in theater in over a decade, and after a few months of just being stressed because of life, I decided to treat myself to a fun evening by myself. I arrived at 5:20 and saw there were four cars in front of me. I didn’t want to arrive that earlier because they don’t let cars in until 7, but I also didn’t want to risk not being able to let in due to capacity.
They opened the gates at about 6:30-ish, and I was so happy to get a spot right in the front and center of the screen. I made my way to the concession stand and got myself a cheeseburger with onion rings. Let me just say…BEST ONION RINGS I EVER HAD! The batter was so creamy and had the perfect crispy texture ever. i was so tempted to get myself another order, but I wanted to save room for popcorn.
They did have signs plastered throughout the entire concession stand about the new staff and still in training, so it was a bit slower, but I didn’t mind the wait.
I will say, for being in the outdoors and in no man’s land, the entire area was so clean and well kept. The grass was trimmed, no garbage anywhere. That was the one thing that really caught me by surprised. The area is just so clean and well put together.
I couldn’t even begin to describe how happy I was to be here. I wish there was one closer to me since I live in Aurora, but the drive was worth it. I will definitely...
Read moreThis was my first drive in theater experience and I absolutely loved it. It helped that we had the perfect vehicle for it, but I think I would have loved it no matter what.
It was an amazing throw back to a bygone era. The picture was clear, the board had some flaws, that I quickly stopped seeing a few minutes into the movie. The atmosphere was amazing, we brought our 6 year old son, and this being our first time, we forget any sort of frisbee or balls to play with while we waited for dusk; However other kids included him in their play and that crisis was resolved.
The food is fairly expensive for what it is, which is off the shelf products, but given the remote location I'm not expecting a 3 star restaurant. They also don't stop you from bringing your own food and drinks.
You get to see two movies, but movies start at dusk, which for us was almost 9pm we left after the 1st movie since our son was tired but you'd be able to stay and watch the second movie if you wanted. This would turn it into a very late night party, which sounds amazing, but alas, I had a 6 year old who wanted his bed!
I will definitely be coming back, make sure you bring cash. The tickets and food can only be...
Read moreI grew up going to this drive in. I was excited to take my boys. It is priced very decent, cheap to see 2 movies at once.
However, many of the spots do not have working speakers or speakers at all anymore. I was unable to enjoy the movie because I had to keep "starting" my vehicle.
It would be nice if they would put some money into putting speakers into each spot or having an app we could listen to from our phones so we don't have to run our vehicles.
My car ended up dying so we were unable to watch the 2nd movie, my boys and niece were upset. The plan was to find a spot w a speaker after the first movie, but my car died before the 1st movie was even over.
Looking around between the movies I realized the lack of spots with speakers.
The concession lines seemed to take forever and we're extremely long. Not sure if it was due to short staffing or the way things are ran.
Overall, I felt it was a waste of our night and I wish we would have waited and gone to the movie theater to see...
