I drove down to Tabby's place to look for a cat to adopt. My almost 18 year old girl had just recently passed and my remaining cat was very lonely. Normally I would wait a little while to bring in another cat, but my cat is obviously really missing feeling companionship even though he and I are very bonded. I filled out the online application a few days before my appointment. I met with two different staff members who walked me around and showed me the two cats that I had chosen online that seemed like they would be a good match. We also walked around and they showed me other cats that might also be a good match. Say do not hide any information about any of the cats. If they have medical issues or behavioral issues, you will know. I was there for a little over an hour and met a couple cats and I chose the one that I thought would be the best fit. It was so nice being able to interact with all the cats and the staff and really take my time to choose. The people there really know what they're doing so you wouldn't be disappointed going here. I'm looking forward to picking up my new buddy in a...
Read moreI went to them because I am desperate to try and rehome my sweet old kitty who just refuses to use the litter. We've tried absolutely everything for the last 5 years. After essentially trying to guilt us into keeping her (and maybe separating her into another room to contain the mess -- like that's going to be fair or pleasant, and yes, we have done that too), they closed the request and will take no further actions.
I'm trying to do the very best in an awful situation. I can either rehome one of my cats, lock her up for the rest of her life, or rehome my OTHER cats (because the real issue is Old Lady Kitty won't share the litter box). I'm willing to keep her until we move (aiming for about 8 months from now and I'm willing to keep her for that entire 8 time, if they could just help me find a home for her) -- but I can't have another ruined carpet, I just can't. So I reached out for help feel like I was pretty much told, "sorry, it's your problem" when they closed down the request after I explained that I've already tried absolutely everything on their list of...
Read moreWhat can I say about Tabby's Place? The description is in the name - it is a sanctuary for cats in dire situations.
I have served as a volunteer for over 10 years, been a board member, and now am a hospice foster. My soul-cat Sirius came from Tabby's Place. I live too far away now to be on the board or visit regularly, but still provide fostering services for terminally ill cats.
Tabby's Place is what this world needs - a place for the unwanted, the unadoptable. (And yet - those cats are still sometimes adopted!)
It is entirely funded by donations and the new wing under construction will allow for FeLV+ kitties. Tabby's Place is truly a haven for cats. Even outside their doors, they serve TNR operations.
Photos are of my current Tabby's Place hospice foster. He was born with severe congenital kidney disease. He will spend his short life with me in a private home, wholly loved, and well cared for. This is their mission, and it is my mission, too.
Cats are wonderful creatures; humans do not deserve them. The best we can do is...
