The conditions of the course were disappointing. Paying $175 for poor fairways was a surprise, hitting off mats on range before the round, and then playing greens rolling at 13 was really unexpected. I thought playing at Classic was going to be the best course, but just because one place is most expensive does not qualify it the best. I am a 3 handicap and the game is hard enough to get on in regulation on this course, but to manage greens that fast is extreme. For example 5th hole hit 3 wood on fairway, hit wedge from 110 yards to above hole 15 feet on green and then after 2 decent shots rewarded with a putt impossible to stop near the hole. Our entire 4some hit multiple putts trying to manage the speed and could not get a ball to stop. I have played in State opens and state ams and the greens were not that extreme. Why they would have speed of 13 for weekend play is beyond me. Roll the greens if your going to host a tour event, but do not make regular paying customers and players play these conditions. I cannot imagine any 20 handicap enjoying these greens. Maybe a tour player would enjoy, but I am not a tour player. I am a weekend hack just doing my best. Maybe there goal is to make sure players do not come back because Maddens will always have traffic and customers with the resort willing to pay these high rates. Well, maybe that is the case, but I will be giving my opinion to others and I for one will not come back. I would play Craguns, Pines/Preserve, Deacons before forking out $175...

The Classic had a bit of a Country Club/clubhouse feel but still relaxed for us. Our server, Dave was friendly, prompt, funny, and quick with recommendations.
As we were sitting near a green we were able to watch golfers hit approach shots then finish out the hole. Was nice to watch but wasn't so close that we felt we were gonna catch a ball in our drinks
The appetizer, a coconut shrimp was pretty good. The sauce was a sweet & sour that was pretty strong and when dunked was a but over powering. Didn't make the same mistake for my second piece and was much more enjoyable.
For dinner had a chicken and lobster Oscar style that was recommended by Dave B. and it hit the mark. Flavorful and prepared well.
Dessert was a creme brulee and was fantastic. I enjoy cooking and making desserts and this one will be tough to...
Read morePlayed golf here a couple of times over the years. The tips do stretch the course out a bit, always a beautiful course in great condition. If you get a chance to visit during the fall leave colors you won't regret playing here.
They do have golf carts but for your first I'd also suggest walking it (if you're able to). However I'm not going to lie, after 17 holes, my middle aged body was a little fatigued walking up 18.
Staff have always been fantastic, and accommodating, Stay and Play packages do help with the dollar price, and they also help setup tee times at other courses in the area.
The restaurant on the course is pretty good, and the view is gorgeous.
I've you've never been here and you golf, you need to visit at least once. A bucket list destination for...
