Purchased several sacks of gravel to bring back home to sort through. Just a few very tiny sapphires, mostly flaked and broken, almost no color and nothing with any faceting potential whatsoever. We do our own faceting and have had good luck with even very tiny stones found in gravel from other places. So we were hoping to get at least a couple we could facet. But nothing -- very disappointing indeed! This was our first gravel purchase from Blaze-N-Gems and probably our last. At least the gravel was less expensive than at other places, and the people running the shop were very nice, very encouraging, making us quite optimistic we might find something with faceting potential. "We think you'll be really happy," they said. But it was very disheartening to find nothing. We realize it's a gamble and no guarantees of finding anything. Just don't expect much, and do it for...
Read more2 years ago we went to the mine site and screened several buckets of our own gravel, Blaze ran it through his jig for us at a reasonable cost and we recovered several nice Sapphires, one a very pretty blue with excellent clarity and it cut to about a 1/2 carat which made the digging, work, and cost very much worth it. Today we purchased a couple bags of his concentrated gravel and found another very pretty blue green Sapphire plus a few others totaling 29 carats with at least one cuttable that would easily cover the cost of purchase! They run an honest mine and offer friendly help and instruction for screening. Thank you Blaze! I highly recommend your mine to...
Read moreMy family went there to do some gem hunting. Just the filtering of a 50 pound bag so nothing fancy. We have done this in the past several times at other locations but wanted to give this place a try. Not a great experience.... The water in the trough was so old and low it was growing moss. Seriously how much effort does it take to clean these out? They also did not have a sponge to make the flipping of the screen easy . A painful experience with kids and even adults. No tweezers to use either. To top it off, we found a fraction of gems we normally do. We will not be going back to this...
