Dollar General — Local services in East Lyme

It's not easy to work at this, it gets so slammed and they work with a limited staff but everyone is so helpful, funny, friendly and I love the employees, at this location particularly. Tonight my boyfriend was running so late but we needed cat food and milk and didn't want to pay the gas station prices. They were so sweet they kept the store open ten extra minutes so that he could make it and even helped him find my candy. Thank you ladies!!! I swear it doesn't go unappreciated or unnoticed all the hard work you do, and the sometimes rude customers that you have to deal with. I'm very grateful!!! You made a difference for me...

Don't buy from this place they suck. They "pride themselves for upgrading the store with a cold section" however I've learned to check expiration dates from experience cause they sell lunchmeat over 2 weeks old. They're cans, that I never have a problem opening anywhere else, I've had to throw away 4 cans of stuff. Cause the cans pop top breaks and I can't open with a can opener. Came here at 2:20pm on a Sunday, 2/16/2025 and the doors were locked with no one inside. No sign at the door, lights were on, register was open. Sat and waited for 15 minutes eating Dunkin Donuts from next door as a small group of people built up waiting out front. No one ever came to unlock the doors.

Edit: came back 2 hours later 4:34pm and the doors are still locked, lights on, no one inside....
