Found out about this place through an online search and so glad we did! Kelly was very friendly over the phone and responsive to my emails. It was easy to complete the online registration and we had up to date vaccines. We needed a place to keep our two Bernese Mountain Dogs during the day while we toured around Baxter State Park since dogs aren't allowed. This place is conveniently located just about 30 minutes outside of the Baxter State Park entrance so it didn't take long to return back to our furry babies. They took really good care of them and said our dogs got along super well with the rest of the group. When we returned they were panting hard and looked like they had been playing and running a lot. We liked that they had both an indoor and outdoor area for play and relaxation. Glad there is a place like this near the park to entrust our pets with...
Read moreBe aware that this is a free range dog boarding facility and they have a meet and greet protocol that does not seem great for all dogs. Upon arrival my dog and I were walked up to a fence where at least 6 big dogs ran up to us barking, my dog barked back, the owner squirted my dog with water, my dog then began to growl at one of the other dogs and we were refused boarding there. I had driven 8 hours from home and had booked to board my 1 yr old dog here while I canoed the Allagash. This put us in a very stressful situation where we suddenly had to bring the dog on the camping trip which he was not ready for. Our dog plays at the dog park twice a day and has never had any issues, had I known it was an option to be turned down at arrival like this I would have made...
Read moreI loved this place! My little doggo isn't fond of being boarded - but the no pets allowed in Baxter SP made it a necessity. The ladies at Katahdin Kritters made me feel so much better about leaving my little dude with them - they took excellent care of him. They fed him his custom meals I'd packed for them, they were always around and with him since someone lives on-site, and he even ended up sleeping in bed with the lady at night (not your usual service). In summary - your doggo will be well cared for and loved the entire time you are in the woods - don't worry anymore. Thanks again...
