I had a horrible experience on Apollo. The people working there were nice but I explained i was a bit nervous from the beginning because Apollo kept trying to go as soon as I got on. And the way they explained how to control him was 1 2 3. Ok you're good. Im sitting on this horse like okayyyyy well im not really feeling comfortable. The young girl leading me to the trail kept saying its fine. Like that helps me... like I know your used to this but im not and I think she just needs to work on reassuring people who are new to this better. But I explained another concern of the fact that it keeps following the horse infront of me really close. I kept pulling the rains back but he wouldn't go any slower and took like 4 tries to get him to stop. That shouldn't happen. That's what freaked me out. But again she said its fine. And it was until 30 seconds after she let's go and im on my own it walks into the horse infront of us and then starts doing its own thing. That's when I was like I need to get off this horse. The guy leading the tour brought me back but even as he was doing that he let go to get his horse and Apollo yet again is not stopping. The whole way back I was terrified. Maybe its me but I really think it was that horse. I was excited until I saw the horse because he looked stocky and slow but I wanted to give it a go. They did refund me my money which I appreciated. One day ill try again but not with that...
Read moreI was honestly shocked - generally by the unprofessionalism and especially by the incompetence of the "trail guides." This place appears to be run by children who are certainly not qualified guides nor remotely experienced handlers of horses. In addition to the farm being rather run down, with junk and old trash piles scattered all about, we paid $90 for a 90 minute ride, had to wait 20 minutes to start because one of said "guides" couldn't figure out how to mount her horse from a mounting block (with the other "trail guide" not so helpfully/constructively criticizing her every move)... then we walked down one trail, doubled back, walked down another, doubled back... basically going in circles through the same small bit of forest. We arrived back to the farm at what the lead guide presumed to be about 90 minutes (it wasn't), she having forgotten to bring along something to keep time (she was maybe 14 years old?). There were a number of waterless horses tied to fences out in the hot sun - it's clear their turnout isn't adequate - there are many paddock fences in utter disrepair. I would NOT recommend going to this farm. Aside from all of what I just mentioned being a big headache, plain and simple:...
Read moreHighly recommend! A truly authentic trail riding experience with staff who are very knowledgeable and take care of the riders and horses.
My boyfriend and I had an AWESOME trail ride guided by Nicky on a beautiful December afternoon. We found Gold Rush on Google and the reviews.
We will definitely be back again, more than once, for trail rides, maybe riding lessons, and mini horse wagon riding lessons! We were happy to hear they also do excursions, groups, and corporate events. We will be considering it for events in the future !
