Bonnie View is a 9 hole daily fee public golf course.
The course pretty much still holds her orginal layout, they have moved the 8th hole's tee box up, by about 100 yards and took the dog leg out of it. I think probably for the safety and protection for the grounds crew and their equipment from snap hooks and hossle rockets. You're still hitting into an elevated postage stamp sized green that doesn't give much forgiveness for an errant 2nd shot.
The course also has one of Mid Michigan's toughest par 4 holes in #5. A tricky long dogleg right hole that has an opportunity to go to both "jail" and the "beach" trying to reach the green. Walking away with a par is a good thing on hole 5.
My biggest gripe as with most low to mid priced public golf courses is that the patrons for the most part don't know how to or, just can't be bothered to rake a sand trap behind themselves. The conumdrum as how to properly use a ball mark repair tool and, repair the damage their ball made on a greens must tend to remain a mystery to them as well. That personal rant aside, Bonnie View's grounds crew does a pretty good job keeping the course in good shape considering it does get a fair amount of play. Overall course is maintained consistently to a "good" condition.
If it's been raining previously to your visit it is a good idea to bring along some bug spray. There are some very hungry mosquitoes that reside in the woods that boarder the backside of the course. It is not uncommon to see wild turkeys, deer and, other critters while playing the course. Fear not they are polite and won't heckle for errant shots or missed putts.
It's a course that is junior golfer friendly and it isn't so hard that beginners and the gals will not be intimidated.
The greens fees won't damage the wallet. Generally it is an easy course to get on to play. On the weekends I would recommend making a tee time just in case to be on...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreBeen a member at the place for a number of (I believe this being 6th)years. The first year or two I was impressed, course was kept up and was reasonably priced. The last few years it has fallen in a neglected stated. One year mower broke down so greens didnāt get mowed for almost a month, carts hardly make it 18 holes, changing of course to allow additional outbuildings, this year greens/fringes and tee boxes getting burned to dirt patches, one tee box that got burned up was reseeded with weeds not a blade of grass to be found. Would think a course owned by a landscaping company would be in better shape than it is. I would want that place to showcase the abilities of the company itself. I had someone come and give me a quote and recommended this landscape company to do a job at my home and told them āI donāt think Iād recommend them to anyone, I play their course and see what they do; they arenāt touching my yard.ā Iāve tried being loyal hoping just an off year but seeing it too much with that frustration of paying for a membership too play in those conditions really takes any excitement away from trying to play a good round or wanting to play, itās obvious they donāt care for the golf business as itās ājust a hobbyā Iāll be looking elsewhere to give my money to...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreAbsolutely awful! 5 people out golfing, no game warden to speak of. Caused a 14 golfer pile up at hole 4. You have 5 people playing 6 hitting into the people playing on 5. People hitting from hole 5 into hole 4. How did you manage to schedule this bad and have no one there to fix it. Called the club house guy was clueless. No idea what I was talking about admitted he knew nothing about golf and was the only one there that day. After getting hit into, middle of the fairway while waiting on hole 4 I picked up my ball drove to the clubhouse and got a refund. I would avoid this place because it's so inconsistent, better places to go...
