My second semester I dropped classes to focus on my job and I'm still got charged for classes I never attended. Their website messed up and never dropped the classes even though it gave confirmation. I got lucky and the professors dropped me before it destroyed my GPA. When I went to reapply I found all this out no one bothered contacting me through any of the avenues I had on file there. I appealed twice with proof of being laid off and proof of why I had to drop temporarily and got denied even though I never attended or even bought books for the classes. I tried to get in touch REPEATEDLY with the head of accounts payable Mr. Mercer by both phone and email to try and appeal again or get a reduced total and I was REPEATEDLY IGNORED. This school does not care about its students it only wants the money they can grab from said students. Hutchinson community college is much much better. Run far away from Butler. UPDATE: I couldnt get a home loan because of this. I filed a court case and they settled it immediately. Refunded what I'd paid on it and cleared my debt and credit so Mr. M could avoid court. Sad that it takes that much to get some...
Read moreTwo years in a row we have received inaccurate bills from the school for my sons courses (joint High school/college). They will charge you if you can not pay their updated bill in full and will not work with you without a fee. They appear to take no responsibility for the inaccuracies, nor will they adjust the bill based on the fact that THEY added something late. Outside of billing, it is worth noting my son and an entire class of students were punished for missing class for a high school function the instructor was not informed about. It was only through several parents complaints to the high school and Butler that this was "fixed". They still blame the students for the event despite the principal of the high school requiring all students to attend the event. Finally, I can not count the number of times my son reported that one of his instructors was very politically biased and shared his views to the...
Read moreI have had the pleasure of a close association with this Community College for nine years from a different prospective. I provide housing exclusively to male students attending here and have been blessed with having students from all areas of study live at my home. Over the years, if there has ever been a problem that a student brings to me regarding the school, I would suggest to the student to address the problem to the appropriate professor or adviser/counselor and have always observed the outcome to be handled professionally and to the student's satisfaction. Additionally, this college strives to provide academic excellence as well as providing extensive financial assistance to deserving students. I would strongly recommend any student looking for a wonderful college experience to contact this college and walk around the campus. Talk to other students and visit with an adviser. You won't be...
