ATTENTION DOMESTIC/INTERNATIONAL CUSTOMERS, FREIGHT FORWARDERS, AND SHIPPING LINES
Trucking carriers are not able to return empties anymore. All empty apts go INVALID for ‘Limit reached’, ‘Single Move Limited/Double Move only’, which is all controlled & throttled by terminal. Limits reached on a super slow day is very interesting to all carriers as we have eyes on terminal cameras gauging Congestions 24/7. We have had 30-50 invalid apts the last 1.5 months ON THE DAILY. Customer, what will end up happening is your empty with be charged Chassis and Storage daily by trucking carrier until returned. You better pray your empty returns within 3-4 days otherwise $300-400 Per Diems/Daily from SSL will be passed unto you. The Shipping Lines dont care about you, they care about your money.
The Terminals intercoms are so outdated and fried, they dont communicate properly with office resulting in truckers unnecessary void outs resulting in going back to the end of very long lines or completely losing apts and well, opportunity for another apt for the day at all. Happens alot on LFD’s, guess who cant extended one free day due to terminals own issue? APM. Guess who has to pay a $250-500 demurrage to terminals? Customer.
We have several containers in storage owed hundreds and pending with others finally returned but owed thousands with ongoing disputes with vendors.
If you love surprises and paying more than originally quoted, one and offs or burning bridges with supply chain vendors then seeking for new ones or dealing with weeks worth of disputes, disregard everything mentioned. you have been warned and will...
Read moreI recently had a frustrating experience at the APM terminal that I feel compelled to share. The service at this terminal is far from efficient, causing significant delays and stress.
First and foremost, the lines are excessively long. Despite arriving early, I found myself waiting for hours. The queue management is disorganized, with little regard for time or customer convenience. There seems to be no proper system in place to streamline the process or prioritize based on urgency.
The security personnel are another major issue. They appear indifferent and unresponsive to concerns raised by those in line. Their lack of organization contributes to the overall chaos. Instead of facilitating smooth operations, they seem to exacerbate the problems, often causing more delays with their ineffective handling of security protocols.
The inefficiency at this terminal is astonishing and clearly points to poor management. For a facility of this scale, one would expect better operational standards and more competent security measures. The experience was frustrating and left me questioning the professionalism and capability of the APM terminal’s staff.
In conclusion, if you have an option, consider using a different terminal. The APM terminal’s poor service, long lines, and inept personal make it a stressful and time-consuming place to handle...
Read moreCame in Yesterday in lane 8. The phone doesn't work, nobody comes out to the speaker. I have to get out of my truck and push the button on another lane for someone to take care of me. Then the girl told me the phone was broke and that she was going to talk to me on the speaker. I got taken care of but after half hour waiting on the phone. After that to pickup empty the ticket says go to 307 for my empty. Nobody working in 307. I asked a checker he said go to 100. I go over there and there is nobody working that area. After about half hour to 45 minutes somebody showed up to take off empties and give them out. The in gate needs updating. They have done some fixing of the pavement inside. That's a plus and the outgate seems to work right off the rfid. They didn't ask me for my ticket number. A ticket just came out and the security seems to be more streamlined also.
Need better attention coming in. Lane 8 is a problem!! But I've had problems in lane 7 also. Lanes 9 and 10 seem to...
