What always unnerves me when I arrive at a new scrap yard is when they come to my car and help unload. I'm not an experienced scrapper, and their small talk makes it clear that I might not know what I'm doing. I can’t help but feel like I’m about to be taken advantage of, especially when they start to touch all the pieces of brass. Telling me that's brass breakage, me asking how much do you pay for that. Answer .65 that's less than half I got in the cities 1.35 2 weeks later.
It feels like this place is no better than a small-town thief. Honestly, what happened here feels criminal to me. If you pay me less for #2 copper than anyone else, that’s not just bad business—it feels like theft. And if your scales are inaccurate or if you’re dishonest, that’s a serious issue.
Many people feel embarrassed about taking scrap to a recycling center. Yes I receive money for it, but for me, it’s about helping the planet, not just making a profit. So people do nothing about it and you get away with it and I'm sure you do people worse than you did me. Cheating me means you're cheating the Earth too. I've recycled a few things here over the past year or so and have been offered less, than at other recycling centers. As an example they paid me $5 for a catalytic converter and another placed offered $20. Another example is car batteries, they offered about $5 each and another placed was $10. My overall experience with the staff on-site has been good and welcoming. Just with my experiences, with the prices offered are a little less than expected. Everything else has been a good overall...
Read moreIf you want to get nothing for your recycling go here. I brought 5 big bags of aluminum cans at least 10 pounds each there today and got $10. They also charge you drop off computers. Go to Maximum Recycling in Rogers, they will pay you a fair or more than fair price for your scrap, and pay you for your old computer, not charge you. Needless to say I will not be back. Used to be a good place 20 years ago when I lived out here, apparently the new management doesn't care if people come back. The only upside is the employees are very nice and courteous, too bad they have to work there. Too bad you can't...
