Elko Speedway & Drive-in Theater — Local services in Elko New Market

I'm honestly speechless about how much of a mess the place has become. It used to be my favorite place to go in the summer. Management is absolutely terrible. They do not respond to emails. When you post on their Facebook they delete it instead of responding. And the whole night was completely different than normal. You're not allowed to be anywhere near the track now so it's so much more crammed than before. Alcohol has changed to where canned drinks are tiny cans instead of large ones. Not everyone likes seltzer. That should not be the only option. Also they replaced the mini donuts with some barbecue business when they already have concessions. Kind of takes away from it. Also the announcer sat and talked for like a half an hour twice. They did not tell anybody what the movie was going to be until that night. The movie started almost an hour before the races were over. Which is supposed to start when the races get over so you can actually hear the movie and be able to see the movie and the races. That's kind of the whole point. They crammed everything into one evening. Including drifters,monster trucks and School bus races. The problem with that is that when the school bus races finally started it was almost 11:00 at night. I'd say half the people were already gone cuz they didn't want to stick around anymore. The school bus races are literally for kids. At 11 pm ???Why? And when they did do them they literally went around the racetrack one time and ended the races for the school bus races. What is the point in even doing it? It was absolutely sad and honestly I probably won't go back. Also after seeing reviews on here that their online website tries to charge you over and over again for months is terrifying. Now I have to watch my bank account. Smh. Can we have the old owners...

Lifelong racing fan here. Usually attend dirt track races but also love NASCAR so I wanted to try out the only asphalt circuit we have here in Minnesota. I went on an Eve of Destruction night which seems to be the weekly activity outside of a special event or ARCA. I will say the variety of events and the facility itself was great. As a racing purist, it left a bit to be desired in that I don't care much for the more gimmicky races like Bandaleros or school bus racing or spectator racing. The legends and the Late models seemed to be the only real divisions I felt were worthwhile racing wise. But with the amount of action and events Elko crams into a 4 or 5 hour night makes up for it, because of one thing boxes you or isn't to your liking, something else will be happening very shortly, or even at the same time. The night I went there was Monster Trucks, a petting zoo, a live band playing under the grandstand for the duration, stunt street bike demos, and professional wrestling featured alongside the racing action. As an almost middle aged man that went by himself, it wasn't quite the same as a dirt track with all racing all night, but it was very well maintained with good staff and seems to be especially great and tends to lend itself to families in particular.
