We rented a pontoon boat for the day and we had a fantastic time with our family on our annual beach trip. Our driver was experienced driving at the lake but not in the waterway. Lisa did a good job instructing us and giving us pointers on where to go, specifically recommending the island at marker 37. We followed her instructions explicitly with the exception of continuously moving the boat out. We anchored the boat out as low tide was approaching prior to getting off. We realized the water level had dropped therefore, we stayed on the island until low tide had past & the tide was rising so the pontoon could move freely. We boarded the boat around 3:30 to ride a few minutes prior to returning the boat. Lisa text me to let us know she would not be at the dock any earlier and possibly a few minutes later than 4:30. I messaged her and told her what had happened. She asked if the prior was up which it was. She said ok, she would be at the dock at 4:30 to meet us. At 4:15 she text me to call her. When I called her she began accusing us of still be “stuck” and that we were at mile marker 34 and that someone had taken a picture. She states the anchor person did not do their job, etc. Needless to say, we were at the dock at 4:21 to return the boat to her. Even with that she would not let it go. We finally tried to tell her we were not mariners or we would not have needed to rent her boat. It just put a damper on what had been a very fun day. My husband & I had discussed renting the pontoon again for the day prior to this exchange. We could have been talked to in a totally different manner. All of their reviews are excellent. I had read them before we rented. Perhaps she was having a bad day but it left us...

Capt Roy did a great job both times I’ve been out with him - 1st with a large group of colleagues and then on a smaller trip with just my daughter and I.

Roy & Lisa did a great job letting us know what to expect and when/where to be. We felt well-prepared and ready to go.

Roy knew just the right places to go and dropped us right over some nice schools. In the trip with my daughter it felt like shooting fish in a barrell. He does a great job answering questions and making changes if we ask. Roy is very hands on in working with the guests especially (as with my daughter) if they are having some challenges.

When the trip was done, he cleaned the fish right there on the dock for us to see and be a part of. I think I snuck a fresh cut piece of fish right there after my 1st trip.

He has even done a nice job of letting us know when there were other slow times with perfect weather to make an unplanned adventure weekend a reality!

We rented a pontoon boat for the entire day. We left at 9:00am and got back at 4:30. There were a couple of islands that we visited and collected a bunch of sea shells. Swimming in the water was pleasureable. When you are close an island, you can touch the bottom and the bottom feels like a beach. We saw a large pod of dolphins (20+). They got as close as 20 yards from the boat while we were anchored. Such an amazing experience.

I'd say that the only (very minor) drawback is that you are pretty much limited to the international waterway. This isn't a fault with Emerald Isle Adventures. It's just the nature of Bogue Sound. If you go too far off the intercoastal waterway, the water becomes shallow quickly so you have to be careful. We managed it so you can, too.
