The SHRA booked an event with the Motorplex management through a conference call with the general manager and competition director at the time, in Jan 2014. The competition director quit soon after. On March 12th SHRA reached out to the general manager Gabrielle Stevenson via email to re-confirm the event despite the competition directors leaving and received a prompt yes that all was a go. The SHRA then organized a 3 day display during the September national event where staff members spent their time not watching races, but promoting the SHRA event which was to be held Nov 8th. The SHRA also distributed 2,500 flyers at the cost of the SHRA to help promote the event Nov 8th. The SHRA also distributed multiple pre-race press releases promoting the event. The SHRA brought 88 cars to the event Nov 8th and provided the most entertaining racing of the event no doubt. After three requests to get the booking fee check that night on Nov 8th, the SHRA received no check. After two additional attempts to get the booking fee check on Sunday, November 9th the Motorplex ticketing agent and new competition director instructed the SHRA to call the general manager Gabrielle on Monday. On Monday, Gabrielle (the same general manager who has booked the SHRA in 2013 and previous organization under a different name of Texas Blown Fuel in 2012 and 2011) informed the SHRA she had never agreed to any terms of payment and in fact should have charged the SHRA a rental fee to race there. Through two additional phone calls between the SHRA and Gabrielle, it was clear not only was the Motorplex not going to honor their booking arrangement but that the general manager had no clue what was actually going on and there was a massive lack of communication and organization between the staff members at the Motorplex including the ticketing manager and competition director. It is a true shame a facility with the reputation it has chose to handle themselves in this manner and is just another example of how down hill this facility has gone in the last decade. It is a fact that the Motorplex has now lost the support of several dozen North Texas based racers. Shame on the management from top to bottom for their lack of professionalism. Shame on the individuals who backed out on their word. There are plenty of drag racing facilities in the southwest who handle themselves in a much more appropriate manner and that is where we suggest both fans and spectators go to watch or participate in drag...
Read moreI went to the Street Outlaws No Prep Kings event and I thought the event itself was great. However, there are several things that TM could improve on. #1 - Concessions. This was ridiculous. There were only a handful of food vendors so the line to get a simple drink or a food item was 45min-1hr of standing in a line EACH TIME. It wouldn't have been as bad if they were serving quickly but every one of them seemed in no rush at all despite many people getting upset. Food vendors would "run out of food" and close down. This happened to me TWICE after sitting in line for over 30 minutes each. There was no clear signs on what line was for what (food orders or drink refills only). Most menus and prices were either not clearly written or in plain view...if there was a menu AT ALL. #2 - Parking. We had VIP passes for the event. Upon arriving, there were signs that said VIP Parking $35 but when we got to the staff member for parking, we showed her our tickets and she gave us a parking pass and told us where to go park since she said that parking was included with our VIP tickets. It wasn't until we were leaving and were talking to another person at the event that we were informed that if we paid $35 extra, we could have parked up front and not had to walk a good 3/4 of a mile. I would most certainly have paid that to not have to walk all that way. There was no communication that we found that explained this nor did the staff member even mention it. #3. Cleanliness. I've been to many events at many different places in my life and I have not seen a worse display of facilities management...ever. The entire event, no staff member that I saw was picking up trash, enforcing not throwing trash on the ground, emptying trash cans, stocking TOILET PAPER in the bathrooms (all women's restrooms and porta potties). The Texas Motorplex staff really dropped the ball on this event. My wife and I had a great time overall mainly due to the Street Outlaws people all being so friendly despite having camera crews in their...
Read moreWe had a good time at Tx2k24. Everything was mostly good. The event itself is amazing!
There are a few things that need work. First and foremost traffic and parking. They have cop cars blocking the Uturns on the highway for a mile past the entrance doing nothing, not even sure a cop was in the vehicle. The rain really made a mess of things and whoever coordinated the parking/traffic control needs to be fired. We were parked in the rv section with only one way in and out, through the field. Trying to leave Sunday was a nightmare! The entire field was a mud pit with cars stuck everywhere. It took me 2 HOURS to get out. During the mud spinning and my car getting splattered my windshield was cracked 😡 The guys at the rv gate seemed helpless, one said he tried to call for help but was told no one would come.
Up until the end I could have looked past other minor annoyances but it all started to add up. Glass bottles dropping from the bleachers shattering on the ground, thankfully no one was injured.
There’s a vendor that sells lemonade for 20$ and it’s free refills for the day, so if the event is rained out and you just paid 20$ for your cup…they will not honor it the next day. You’re just out of luck.
My advice is get some REAL traffic control for everyone’s safety. Get rid of the stupid 20$ lemonade stand. And get some safety patrol to walk around and monitor things so no one gets a glass bottle dropped on their head. Planning and preparation should be a part of the whole event not just the track.
On the positive, the races were fun to watch. It was amazing seeing the cars. The announcer had an amazing personality we loved listening to him. The crowd was good, people were having a good time. Bathrooms were clean, I can only speak for the rv side closest to the highway entrance.
Overall, the actual event was amazing. It’s the other things that need work but have a huge impact on the experience. You can’t help rain or crappy vendors or people breaking rules but you can plan things better and...
