🎥@smile4travel ・・・ 10 Places in Oregon that blew my mind an will probably blow yours. In appreciation of #OregonDay I’ m highlighting the 7 Wonders of Oregon (can you name them?) + 3 places I can’t wrap my head around why they don’t count as such. 📍 Alvord Desert For me the most surprising & fascinating landscape in Southern Oregon. 🌌Enjoy the solitude while camping on the salt flat and soaking In Alvord Hot Springs 📍 Columbia River Gorge The boarder between Oregon + Washington State, most popular in summer & equally famous for chasing waterfalls & wildflowers in spring. 🌼 📍 Crater Lake National Park Oregon’s only Nation Park & deepest lake in America. 💎 You have to see it with your own eyes to believe this place exists. Even then it feels like standing in front of an oversized photo wallpaper. 📍 Mt. Hood Oregon’s landmark offering plenty of outdoor opportunities summer though winter. 🏔️ Mt. Hood marks the start of the famous Hood to Coast relay and can be circumnavigated via Timberline Trail 📍 Oregon Coast 363 miles of coastline varying from wide beaches to tiny coves, and home to some of the most spectacular coastal hikes in the PNW - all open to the public. 🐳 Don’t miss the migrating gray whales in December & March. 📍Oregon Dunes Did you know Oregon is home to one of the largest temperate coastal sand dunes in the world? 🥾 Hike the 5.5 miles John Dellenback Trail, leading from the coastal forest through sandy dunes to the coast. 📍 Painted Hills Most famous part of John Day Fossil Beds National Monument located in Eastern Oregon. 🌈 Few people know that there are 3 sections, all worth visiting! 📍 Smith Rock State Park Oregon’s Eldorado for rock climbing, located in the high desert of Central Oregon 🧗🏼 🧡 When visiting for the 1st time I felt like I had traveled to the Southwest. 📍 Tamolitch Falls Also know as Blue Pool this gem can be reached via the McKenzie River Trail. 💙 It is best combined with Koosah & Sahalie Falls. 📍The Wallowas Known as the Little Alps are Eastern Oregon’s hiking & backpacking paradise - in my opinion often overlooked.

Wallowa Mountains: taking the Aerial Tram to see Wallowa Lake and Wallowa mountains from the top. 3. Silver Falls State Park: hiking the Trail of Ten Falls. 4. Oregon Coast: exploring from Astoria to Brookings, so much beauty in between! 5. Painted Hills: learning about the history and geology of these colorful mountains. 6. The Alps of Oregon will leave you breathless. I mean that, you will both see very neat things, and you will lose your breath when you walk up some of these hills. Had a few road dogs take a little walk in this area once before. Would do it again in a heartbeat. Do yourself a favor and go see them for yourself.

I love the top of Matterhorn. I think it’s something like 9823 feet in elevation. There is a 1800 foot cliff on this mountain. The hike up it, starting from ice lake, and scrambling up its limestone rocks..... it’s something I will...

The Wallowa Mountains are gorgeous and rather the hidden treasure of Oregon. The mountains are filled with alpine lakes, mountain vistas, wildflowers, and wildlife. I prefer the solitude this place holds, so please stay away so it remains this way. It is nice without city people, loud music, and garbage. So if you must go, respect nature please. For those willing to hike long hard miles backpacking with heavy packs the rewards are endless as they put in the effort and deserve the rewards of this...

If you're going to visit, buy some maps ahead of time and avoid the popular trailheads. I'd recommend buying the Greens Trails Map of the area. There are ~3 trailheads that are very very busy but the other 90% of the Wallowas are equally beautiful and basically empty. If you want to avoid the crowds try entering from the southern side and avoiding the...
