Ouzel Falls is one of my favorite waterfalls in all of Colorado. The falls are absolutely beautiful and have a great hike that takes you alongside a river and through a forest that has the Calypso Cascades along the way. The falls themself take a little bit of effort to get to but the hike is not that strenuous. I have seen deer a number of times along the trail as well. If you can make the hike at sunrise before the light becomes too harsh on the waterfall it is truly a spectacle to see in person. You can even hike back up and around the waterfall if you want to push yourself a little further. This is one of the gems of Rocky Mountain National Park and it is in an area that does not receive the crowds that the main area of the park does which is a...

I love this hike and these falls! If you go in early spring as I did this year you will hike through a lot of snow and find a mostly frozen waterfall (as the pictures show). In the summer it's a beautiful 40-ft waterfall! Make sure not to stay at the bridge to look at it... Walk further up. You can get right up next to it if you want. You can even go to the top! BUT PLEASE BE CAREFUL! One time that I went a lady fell off from the top and a group of us had to save her life. Always be careful near edges. Kids, amateurs, & visitors can make this hike, however, I don't advise taking kids to the top of the waterfall as it's dangerous. Otherwise it's a great hike...

It’s worth the hike! Keep going until you think you can’t go anymore and you are almost 1/2way there. Along the way there are countless beautiful waterfalls and streams. Look for the fat chipmunks and animals everywhere. The flowers are amazing in the spring and summer. Take a hike around all sides of the fall and go to the top if you can. The views over the mountains are incredible! Bring water and snacks as the adventure could take a few hours+. It’s also a good idea to bring a light jacket and a poncho even in the summer as the temperature falls fast and it can rain at any moment. Closed toed shoes are a must and hiking boots are...

Ouzel Falls takes you through more than 6 waterfall viewing points! It’s so beautiful, and it’s perfect for out-of-towners! Most of the hike is easy, with a few staircase-like sections. On the last mile, to get to the last waterfall, there is quite a bit of incline, but it’s doable for most people!! You’ll feel accomplished but not dead 😅 Get the deets below and tag someone you want to go with! ☀️ Ouzel Falls via Wild Basin Trail - Distance: 5.3 miles - Elevation Gain: 984 ft. - Difficulty: Easy/Moderate ➜ A bit of stairs and a steady incline on the 2nd half of the hike. - Notes: You can continue past the falls to Thunder Lake for a difficult 11.7 mile hike instead! HAPPY HIKING!!! 🥰🥾🌲🌻🏔🦋 #colorfulcolorado #rockymountains #rmnp #coloradolife #findyourpark #hikingadventures #denver #hikingcolorado #coloradoadventures #hikecolorado #optoutside #coloradomountains #coloradoliving #explorecolorado #coloradoinstagram #coloradotrail #denverhikes #coloradolove #coloradohiking #coloradoviews #visitcolorado #rockymountainnationalpark #coloradolive #optoutside #viewcolorado

Save for summer hiking inspo! These are my all-time 5 favorite hikes in Rocky Mountain National Park! You can get all the details below ↯ And follow along for more Colorado recommendations! ☀️ Sky Pond - Distance: 8.6 miles - Elevation Gain: 1,771 ft. - Difficulty: Hard ➜ Trail starts at high altitude and has lots of elevation gain. There is a short scramble up the side of a waterfall that is very slippery! - Notes: I was terrified of doing this hike because of the scramble, but it wasn’t that bad if you just take your time. ☀️ Mount Ida - Distance: 9.4 miles - Elevation Gain: 2,414 ft. - Difficulty: Hard ➜ The actual trail is pretty easy, and after the 1st mile, it’s a very small & steady incline. But the altitude is a killer on this one! At the end, you’ll almost be at 13,000ft. - Notes: The road to get to the trail head (Trail Ridge Road) is only open for a few months out of the year, usually end of May - October, but check nps.gov for exact dates! Also, it can get pretty windy on the ridge so pack a windbreaker! ☀️ Chasm Lake - Distance: 8.8 miles - Elevation Gain: 2,542 ft. - Difficulty: Hard ➜ Lots of elevation gain and you start out at a high altitude - Notes: This is my favorite hike of all time! The best time to go on this hike is July-October when the snow has melted. It’s very dangerous in the winter, and I would not recommend! ☀️ Ouzel Falls - Distance: 5.3 miles - Elevation Gain: 984 ft. - Difficulty: Easy/Moderate ➜ A bit of stairs and a steady incline on the 2nd half of the hike. - Notes: You can continue past the falls to Thunder Lake for a difficult 11.7 mile hike instead! ☀️ Emerald Lake Trail - Distance: 3 miles - Elevation Gain: 682 ft. - Difficulty: Easy/Moderate (out-of-towners might rate this as moderate because of the high altitude) - Notes: This trail takes you alongside 3 beautiful lakes (Nymph, Dream, & Emerald) You can easily add on a 4th (Bear Lake) by just making a right turn at the trailhead! HAPPY HIKING!! 🥰🥾🌲🌻🏔 #coloradoblogger #coloradohiking #rockymountainnationalpark #rockymountains #rockymountain #womenwhohike #hikelikeagirl #besthikes #coloradogram #coloradoliving #coloradolive #hikemore #optoutside
