Trails West 4x4 Super Center — Local services in Etna Township

I recently made a substantial purchase at this shop, including a topper and a spray-in bedliner for my new truck, approximately $4000. The process, unfortunately, has been far from satisfactory.

During the period my truck was in for the spray-in bedliner, I noticed an unexpected increase in mileage. Initially having only 8 miles on this tank of gas, I was surprised to find 48 miles when I received my truck back. It appears that the vehicle was driven approximately 40 miles, which was not disclosed to me, leading to some frustration.

Moving on to the topper, my frustration grew as the promised five to eight-week wait turned into a prolonged process. Upon inquiry, I discovered a three-week delay, attributed to a late order placement and custom paint. The lack of proactive communication during this period was disappointing.

Upon finally receiving the topper, the installation presented problems. The rubber gasket for the rear window looked subpar, even after attempted fixes. Additionally, a key feature – the ability to lock the topper via the key fob – proved to be non-functional for my 2020 F150 due to safety features (this us what they said) contradicting what was initially promised during the sale.

While the staff attempted to address the issues, the overall experience has left me dissatisfied. I appreciate the effort to rectify the situation, but the miscommunication, extended delays, and unmet promises have soured my impression.

Unfortunately, I cannot recommend this shop based on my experience, and I personally won't be returning.

I should have read some of the reviews prior to purchasing from the shop. It isn’t so much the issues that may arise. Because this can happen anywhere. We visited Trails West on Friday September 30th between the hours of 2:30-3:45. We were interested in purchasing front and rear Smittybuilt bumpers and spare tire swivel rack for our 2017 JK. We were prepared to spend more than $2,000.00 today. When we first arrived the gentleman (grey hair middle aged heavy set) seemed less than enthused about helping us. He did look up numerous things for us on the computer and things seemed to be going well, in spite of his less than welcoming greeting. The items were not in stock so they offered the display items, which we were agreeable to. One of the boxes was found and we were shown the contents that went along with the rear bumper. The next step was to get the box for the front bumper. This is where things fell apart. The gentleman who was originally helping us told another team member to get the box. His response was "I did not take it out of the box, so I do not know where the box is". That team member went on to help another customer and the gentleman originally helping us started answering phone calls. There were 2 other people working in the showroom area also helping others. 30 minutes went by and nothing.....we were not even addressed. Our one box continued to sit there and new customers continued to come in and be assisted. We walked out and I doubt if they even knew we were gone. My husband had a lift kit installed on his truck about 5 months ago. The service was excellent! And he was completely happy! 5 months later and his power steering started to go out. He took it to the Toyota dealership who told him that it was due to the modifications he made to his truck. They wanted to charge him $3,200 for a new rack and pinion. They told him it was due to having to pull the engine block. So my husband decided to take it back to Trails West to get a second opinion. They lifted the tuck, and actually showed (not just told) him what was going on. Showed him another Toyota tuck that was getting to ready to be lifted. Showed him that the lift kit was NOT the cause. But, better yet- They offered to take care of the problem. They ordered him in a a better rack for the power steering, one with a warranty (the dealership one didn't have a parts warranty with it - who knew?) and installed it for less then half the cost the dealership would have charged. They had the truck one day. These guys are amazing and we will recommend them to everyone we know. Amazing job and amazing customer...
