Slowly pieced together an entire McKenzie furniture set (not cheap) over a period of two years. Endured factory and loading dock strikes on a couple of occasions delaying delivery by three months on one item and delayed a warranty issue with another just as long.

Craftsmanship and construction is solid. A lot to like on features and assembly.

The horrible finishing and staining is evident in every single piece. So many edges feel and look like they came right off the saw. Seriously, feel every edge not facing up or forward as they sand as little as they feel they have to. I had to buy and finish applying the minwax equivalent stain and sealer on multiple sections as they completely missed them and didn't even sand others. Haven't decided if I want to get my palm and orbital sander out to get rid of all the rough spots and redo them yet.

Duped also by the "family pride" schtick, you're paying a premium for all cheap Vietnam offshore labor (now). The wood is exported from Oregon and that seems to be about it.

Whittier Wood customer service is top notch! I purchased filing cabinets from a 3rd party retailer over 8 yeas ago. I decided to have them refinished because the product was so well made I would never get rid of the - I just chose a finish that had become outdated. Unfortunately the refinisher didn't know how to remove the drawers and broke the drawer gliders. I called my retailer, and they said Whittier Wood said I can call them direct. (how many manufacturers offer the end customer to call them directly?) Leigh from Whittier Wood helped me figure out the correct drawer gliders. I also told him how I repurposed the filing cabinets into a decorative chest, and sent him a picture (see attached). He reached back out to me to tell me that my cabinet may not be safe with he bun feet I added, and offered to send me a tipping-restraint to ensure the cabinet remained safe from tipping! I just want to say this company has the best customer service. A family member gave me a kit for a side table from this business. When I opened it there was no hardware in the box so I reached out to the company to see if they could help with a replacement part. The people in customer service went well out of their way to find me the parts I needed despite the fact that the item was produced in 2001, nearly 20 years ago! I am so grateful. I did not want to see a beautiful piece of furniture go to waste. Leigh and Warren made it happen and I couldn’t be more excited. I am so impressed with this team and would recommend this business to anyone. They really have great service....
