Read moreMy partner and I really loved adventuring out here on a Sunday to get some seasonal and local produce for our meals this week.
The owner, Jim, was insanely knowledgeable about each piece of produce/meat/pantry and was happy to explain - even though he probably explains it 393939x a day- you felt like you were the first customer of the day he was helping out! We were welcomed with samples of insanely fresh peaches and strawberries, and he let us try fresh mushrooms and kale and little gem and just about every other piece of produce he had!
We came for onions, honey and peaches but of course left with A LOT more. I am a big home chef and understand the value of fresh and organic in my cooking and so I am easily sold on getting one or ten extra ingredients I know I’ll use! We ended up buying sweet corn, dino kale, peaches, nectarines, mushrooms, garlic, red and yellow onions, honey, ground lamb, king salmon, dried purple runner beans, and one shrimp cocktail. All in all it was about $150 and I won’t have to go to the grocery store at all this week! I would’ve easily spent $300+ getting all of that in my local organic market so I find the price for the whole experience very reasonable.
Can’t wait to come back to buy some bacon (no added sh** bacon which is impossible to find in the grocery stores) and try the...
Read moreWe were sailing home from Point Reyes on Sir Francis Drake and wizzed past the Farm Stand. Out of the corner of my eye I saw "organic cherries." We pulled a u and parked. Walking to the Stand we were intrigued by music coming from a space just before the stand, and peeked in. Inside were around 20 Jay Blakesberg prints--Grateful Dead, David Byrne, Led effin Zep! Tom Waits, Mountain Girl ❤️. A Dead show was playing on a screen. It was surreal--we had just seen this exhibit at the Contemporary Jewish Museum in SF. At the stand, a beautiful soul offered us tastes of strawberries, blueberries, and a few luscious cherries, first of the season. We chose some fruit and went inside to pay. Inside, the offerings were also sublime--toma cheese, local meats, jams, pasta and chocolates. We chose a cider--Cherry Seinfeld, lol--and stepped up to the register. Jim, the creator of this amazing space, rang us up, all the while chatting about the history of the place. He walked us out and grabbed handfuls of produce, dropping them in our bag--snap peas, bibb lettuce, an heirloom tomato. Jim, you are awesome! Honestly, I cannot wait to go back, for all the reasons. These sorts of experiences are what I love most about...
