Fairfield South Trace Golf Course — Local services in Fairfield

Played the course on November 24, 2024. Ours was the first group off on that day, and we were able to check in and tee off quickly and without issue. Carts are equipped with GPS, however, the GPS in my cart wasn't working. Clubhouse employees seemed friendly and we were charged winter rates. Course wasn't wet, but we were asked to play cart path only. Tees appeared to be in good condition, with the exception of a few that were torn up. Fairways were playable, but grass wasn't as lush as I would have liked. Greens are large with lots of undulations and appeared to be in good condition. Fairways are narrow, especially on the back nine. On my scale of local courses, I'd rate the South Trace to be just under a 4; however it is a really nice public course. Ditto Prior person. They need to save their image/brand and close the course until it is dramatically better. I’m not a greens keeper and merely speculate that having golfers walk thru infested areas could be spreading the problem. Advice: don’t waste your time or money. This course was in horrible condition, some of the fairways were just dirt and tee boxes on some of the holes weren’t much better, majority of the greens were ok but didn’t make up for the overall pathetic conditions, I’m not sure what has happened to this place it wasn’t this bad in the past, I won’t be back it’s the worst I’ve played in...

We have been holding our annual golf outing and fundraiser at Fairfield for the past several years. They’ve always provided a great venue.
