Let me start by saying: If you're not an enthusiast in tabletop gaming, don't let the size of this review scare you off.
I haven't been in town for too long, but this place is the only one that I've found carrying everything I've heard of: D&D, Warhammer (Sigmar, 40k, and the spin-offs), Magic, Battletech, and even more obscure wargames like Star Wars Armada, Bolt Action, and Team Yankee. On top of that, they carry more "old-school" cardboard war games, multiple big hobby paint brands, and any kind of board game you're not gonna find at a big box store (in case you're jonesing for a copy of Twilight Struggle, for instance).
Every time I've come in, the employees really know their stuff. If you're shopping for someone, they will be able to help you far more than clicking around on Amazon would. The return policy is more than fair ("30 days if unopened"), and saved me a fair bit of money when I didn't understand what I was buying until it was almost too late.
I don't have much experience when it comes to playing there, but several tables are in use whenever I show up, and everybody always seems to be having a good time. Great place overall, and if it wasn't so far out of the way for me, I'd go there more.
P.S.: If you do Warhammer, I've estimated they have about a 10% discount compared to buying models directly from a GW store, which isn't immense, but...
Read moreI called June 18th to try to pre order MTG Double Masters boxes. I have ordered from them in the past but they act as if they've never pre-ordered magic the gathering before. They took my order for four boxes. Told me "should be around $200 each" which I knew to be wrong. I kept contacting weekly asking if they knew the price. Eventually I got "around $300" which is what other stores started at. The day before the release they tell me $342 which is market price. That's not how pre-orders work. Don't except them if you can't do it. I was willing to spend over $1000. Offering deals on pre-ordering magic sets is something most game stores do. I'm just incredibly disappointed. Good thing I also ordered from another store. Otherwise you'd have screwed...
Read moreJust visited for the first time and WOW! I've been to every card shop in Fargo and Little Big Wars is BY FAR the most consumer-oriented. The packs of cards I was looking to get were $35, nobody else has them for less than $50, I brought up how good the price was and the man behind the counter explained to me that they intentionally don't have an online storefront and limit their customers on purchases (likely to avoid their stock being scalped). I will be taking my business here over any of their competitors, and don't let the chipped paint on the outside of the building keep you away, because if you're a collector/tabletop player, you'll love what they've got to...
