Furball Farm Pet Sanctuary is a wonderful sanctuary for feral and semi-feral cats. I stumbled upon them over 18 months ago when I saw a Facebook reel. I love cats and see a lot of cat videos on Facebook, but when I saw theirs showing their cats living harmoniously together cage-free, I was hooked as an immediate and faithful daily follower on Facebook and some of their other social medias. I researched their website and watched some previous videos, and was even more impressed. Furball Farm’s mission to provide forever homes to the unwanted cats that come to them via live traps, who were living outside in cold MN winters, the ones that are so scared of humans or were failed by humans, the ones that are scrounging for shelter and food, the ones that a regular rescue do not want because they are not adoptable as is, etc, etc, is just so amazing. I live almost 5 hours away, but have visited twice and each time spent 2-3 days there where they graciously let me volunteer all day while I was there. I saw first hand the passion, dedication, and the behind the scenes work that Julie and all of the many volunteers that I met do daily to take care of their cats, how they keep the sanctuary spotless with their constant cleaning, how much they love the cats, and how much time they spend with them to socialize them and then adopt them out when ready. It is an amazing place, very transparent of how well run it is, and if you watch their daily lives, or watch their 24 hour camera feed, or visit for yourself, you will see that. These are very healthy and well cared for cats who are now spayed/neutered and vetted, and now have all the food, water, beds, toys, warm heated floors, an awesome catio, and love they deserve. Furball Farm has saved the lives of hundreds of cats and have managed to adopt out hundreds that they have socialized over their 6+ years. The public is welcome to visit daily also. They have a spacious new building they just moved into last year that was built just for the cats. Everyone who takes care of the cats are volunteers and they are a non-profit, so all donations go directly to the care of the cats. I wish I lived closer because I would love to be one of their regular volunteers. I definitely will be making the 5 hr trip back to Faribault a few times this spring, summer & fall, and will spend several days again each time to volunteer and to love on the cats. I can’t wait. Great job on your...
Read moreI am addicted to watching the wonderful reels that Furball Farm Pet Sanctuary puts out! I love seeing the newbies coming in, but especially the transformations that take place...from feral to absolute lovebugs. These precious lives are so misunderstood and treated so inhumanely and cruelly by so many humans. These people are a disgrace to the human race because these ferals are proving the reason for these cats' fear of humans. We should be better and do better than that! Furball Farm Pet Sanctuary is making a difference in these forgotten and unloved dumped "throwaway" cats. They are loved, cared for, fed, and now have a home that is theirs if it never becomes possible for them to be adopted into their own furever home.
What have you done for an innocent and homeless cat?
Well for one recent (~20 hrs ago) commenter on here, Jamie Marx, she gave a 1 Star Review, stating "sub par experience trying to surrender a cat to Janis". First of all, what is it she does not understand about this is a sanctuary and does NOT take in owner surrenders? They take in ferals that no other rescue organization will take because these are untouchable cats. Sounds clear to me...I've rescued strays and I've rescued ferals...big difference. Next she wants to surrender her beloved(???) cat due to it being a pee cat. I've had a pee cat, but I wasn't going to just shift my problem unto someone else. I loved my cat and was patient working with her in finding a way to help her. My easy resolution was puppy pads and it worked great. It was also an easy cleanup. Did Jamie try anything, even the puppy pads? I don't know. I believe she was too busy trying to get rid of her cat and being miffed because she couldn't dump her cat on someone else. She was also determined to try to "punish" a wonderful organization helping feral cats and to do this she gave a terrible untruthful review of one of its hardest workers, Janis, who loves the cats she cares for. This is just so sad that we have to behave worse than misbehaving children when we don't get our way. But worse, I feel so bad for her cat that she's desperately trying to pawn off on someone else to handle HER problem. I worry about ALL cats in this similar situation. These cats are not innate objects. They have beating hearts and feelings and we need to learn to treat them with empathy and compassion. Thank you, Furball Farm Pet Sanctuary for all you do for these...
Read moreThis is from a video follower of several years as I do not live anywhere near the area. That being said, I do see the intense awareness of the health of the cats in their care. For anyone who mentions a weeping eye etc. the volunteer staff is already on it. There are isolation rooms for any one who is sick. Several volunteers are certified vet techs and give meds as directed by the sanctuary veterinarian. The facility is immaculate. Watch by TWITCH to see cleaning go on 18+ hours per day on a consistent basis. Fresh clean water, dry food and a wet mixture called soup is available 24x7. The cats have the option of being inside or out at any time. Outside is a safe, secure catio (playground). Nothing can get in or out of this area it is so well designed and installed. Watching via FACEBOOK, TWITCH, INSTAGRAM and perhaps additional platforms can help anyone to learn just how challenging but rewarding this mission is. Their successes are not just measured by the number of adoptions, or number of ferals trapped but by the lives saved and improved - cats and humans alike. Some local visitors become volunteers and are dedicated workers. Other visitors come from long distances away (including out of the US) but stay for days to learn, help and enjoy. I'm sure that when they depart their lives have already been changed for the better and will go home with a new passion to pursue. Some even return multiple times per year as travel allows. This facility runs on public donations. No local, county, state or federal funding supports any of these facilities. YOUR donations are always welcome. The need is great. When watching lives or reels the address is posted on wall posters or can be found on their web site. Please be a friend not a complainer. The world needs more love and less hate. Warm...
