This visit was a school trip on March 27. 2019 for my daughters who attends Mar Vista Elementary in Oxnard. I have gone on a lot of school trips and I have to say this was the best. They had activities, speakers and even a short play. Make sure to bring walking shoes because there is a lot of walking. The place had a small chapel, a school, housing, barn, Indian huts, a Indian sweat hut, water fountain and lots of lemon and orange trees. Thank the school for letting me attend this trip and thank you to all the staff. They were awesome with the kids and really knowledgeable about the location.

I went because my daughter’s 4th grade class had a field trip here! It was an amazing field trip, the kids were shown how tortillas were made and how laundry was done in the olden days, as well as adobe bricks. The main guide was amazing; full of passion, knowledge & charisma! And inside the museum, nature abounds & it’s beautiful 😍

THe Rancho is open for only a limited time just a few hours on Sunday.I am not sure if it is still open on Saturday We arrived at about 1:30 pm and a docent waved us over to join a tour. Apparently you have to be a part of a tour to look around. Unfortunately the docent went into a lot of unnecessary detail, but some of things he said were informative. It was not clear where to park which we realized when we walked in that there was parking furthur in.The beautiful barn and winery were not open to the public and it would have been amazing to look inside. The winery needs a new roof and the foundation needs to be redone. Where is the funding for this ?? Only a small part of the Rancho living area was accessible also. It would have been nice to see into the other rooms. Then the sprinklers were on and we had to dodge them. Why not have them on when visitors are there. Why is there not funding to have timers so that they go off at night, Or where is the funding for a proper system !! The building near the road was not mentioned and was closed. The rose garden was not mentioned and I did not see it until we were leaving. So much more could be done here. But never the less an...
