Heceta Head is a beautiful area with ample paid parking, bathrooms, trails, beach, caves, caretaker house, & Heceta Lighthouse to keep a family or individual entertained for hours. There are tons of photo ops all over this area. You have to walk up a well maintained trail to reach the caretaker cottage (B&B) & then onto the Lighthouse. The beach is tucked between the cliffs on each side & has several tide pools to enjoy as well as big open mouthed caves that don’t go back very far, but are cool all the same. This is a must stop for anyone traveling through or anyone who’s never been before.

Heceta Head Beach is an awesome beach option! It has a little bit of everything! We have a toddler and it is great for him - no big sand dunes to go over to get to the beach - flat area to run and play. Sand to make sand castles, a stream with rocks to throw in the water, tons of driftwood to make forts, walking paths, bathrooms and picnic tables. There is a $5 parking fee but more than worth it!

This whole area is magical, from the lighthouse to the sandy beach to the rocky points. Plenty of shells on the sand. It has a freshwater stream running into the ocean. You have to take time to check out Hobbit beach nearby. There are also some hidden coves that are only visible during low tide. Don't get stuck!

I have been coming to Heceta head since I was a little girl, Rue appeared to me in a top floor window and stared down, As I waved at her, she never waved back. My mom and I went up to the lighthouse where they were giving Tours, We mentioned that we saw a lady in the house and asked if someone lives there? He said that there is no one living there and that we must have seen the Ghost of the grey lady "Rue" at the time my mother and I thought he was nuts, Until I got this picture later on in my life. She appeared...

Great picnic spot. We often stop here to use the restroom after 4 wheeling. Lots of people with dogs, kids writing huge letters in the sand or building castles and great photography. The tide moves in and out making some of the cave-like rock formations in the cliffs accessible but make sure you keep your kids close and watch the tide. You don't have to traverse windy dunes to get to the water; It is...
